Question

Having just had some work done under warranty on my 98 Sport (Piston Replacement)
I asked the dealer to give me a hard copy of the details of the work which had been done to keep with the history.
They told me that they can't do this as no invoice has been issued and all transactions are with Subaru UK via computer.Something I found very odd, and so contested, but to no avail.
I now effectively have a gap in my car's history!
Has anyone else come across this before?
Surely, they are under some obligation to supply some kind of evidence, even though I haven't paid for the work?
The service with this particular dealer has not been good anyway. The car was in for nearly 3 weeks, 'cause parts were out of stock, they didn't supply courtesy car etc, etc
So have just written snotty letter to Subaru explaining my dissatisfaction.
Any opinions here?

Cheers
Steve

Thumbs down

When I had some very minor work done under warranty, the dealer included it on the invoice along with other work. The only difference was for the warranty work they put "warranty"in the "cost" column. I think what your dealer has done is wrong: you still required the work to be done but as it was done under warranty someone else paid for it. You should insist on getting it in writing because without it your car doesn't have a "full service history".

This doesn't sound like JD Power-winning service to me .

David,

Regarding the JD Power issue, ditto. That's exactly what I pointed out to the powers that be at Subaru UK.Only time will tell whether they acknowledge my frustration, and admit that perhaps not all their customers are so chuffed with the overall package.
I am currently seeking somewhere else for my motor to be looked after before it's next due service, so if anybody knows of any good, reliable, customer care conscious dealers in the North West area, please let me know.

Steve

Like DavidG I had some minor warranty stuff done by my dealer Robinsons in Rochdale and it went on the invoice as described.

I can't fault Robinsons, so go there.

The other thing to consider is do you want piston replacement in your history? Unless they did the service at the same time, I'd be inclined not to bother.

Barry,

Have you got the number and basic directions for Robinson's from South Mcr direction.I'm not familiar with Rochdale, but will certainly give them a try.

By the way.Is your's the blue 4 door Turbo, which your wife drives faster than the speed of sound? If so, I think I know know who you are!

Your dealer should be able to prvide paperwork to prove warrnty work has been done. If the dealer goes kaput you have no way of sorting anything out as you have no proof of any work.

I'd insist on a letter detailing what has been done and what has been fitted.

My Subaru dealer did this for me with no fuss

Ah hah. I should've twigged, Sport, piston replacement, I have heard about your woe. I parked opposite your car a while back in the car park and I wondered why Japanese gents kept staring at my car. Apparently I was in the bit kept for Samurai only or something like that. Oh dear!

Anyway, Robinsons number is 01706 716655. If you want give me a ring or e-mail and I can show you where it is on Saturday or Sunday morning. Otherwise I'll try and direct you.

Tell me Steve, does she leave the engine running to cool the turbo down? She promised she'd put petrol in it and didn't!
