Have you still got the Import converter in the cable?

If you put the UK gearbox in, did you also fit a UK rear diff?

now IM confused! If i remember rite, a uk 97 is a mechanical speedo, yes?
You say that the "new" box has an electrical connection where as the old box has the cable?
Anyway, if your speedo cable has the mechanical converter box still inline, in the cable, remove it and see what it reads after.

Matt,
Is it a constant 15 mph out through the range or only above a certain speed?
I have the same problem on an import when checking speed with a GPS.
I then did some calculations of gear ratios, wheel circumference and revs. Comparing expected against actual showed that the GPS was underreading, mainly above 80 mph, by about 5%.

As an example, when the speedo was showing 138 mph, the GPS showed 112 mph but the "theory figure" was 127 mph.

Nick

Need to be a bit careful with that theory Nick. Needle tachos can often be out by a considerable margin (unless you're talking about a Stack or other professional grade one), so you can't place too much reliance on measuring revs and multiplying by mph per krpm.

If you're getting the reading off a SECS/DeltaDash etc. of course, that's a different matter!
