Elvington's on the beds/herts/bucks/East Yorks border

Come along as said above, it'll be a great day

PS - don't forget your passport, and supplies of bottled water

A1(M) at 4am but if you definately need a long runway - try Luton or Stansted.

Seriously though, isn't there Bedford Autodrome or is that more of a handling circuit?

Keevil is an airfield just outside of Swindon....just keep your eye out for any planes as it is still an active MOD airfield!!

They do do the odd airfield trackday.

If you want to do it on the road, you need your head examined.

You will lose your license if caught, end of story. I think you could face jail, but can't say for sure so that might be scaremongering.

It *really* isn't worth it. There's been a few stories on here of people being caught at 2am on deserted roads...

I've been a tad enthusiastic once or twice but please, won't somebody think of the children??? Last time was a few years ago, and what should pull up behind me and sit there when I was slowing down? A 'kin Omega, white, with a bloke wearing white shirt/black tie in it... He sat behind for an eternity... Trees grew and fell... Ice ages passed... Thankfully he then blasted past with his jacket hanging in the rear. Bloody sales rep with evil sense of humour

my mate made a car video at bovingdon (kamacarzi). it's not bad but the surface is pretty harsh and there was loads of stones and rubbish etc that needed cleaning up first.

the runway's quite sloped as well, good for + or - 10mph on your top speed!

Try the guys at Bruntingthorpe, ok so its in Leicestershire but its not a million miles away, its properly organised and they have the longest UK runway at two miles.
Give em a call.

North Weald Airdrome might be another. I've done a track/ instruction day over there.

Agree with r32. Bruntingthorpe is great for top end runs. A fellow LC owner went there for a magazine article comparing it against some other car (can't remmeber what). Managed to hit 180+ time after time after time with 4 in the car.

Answering your own questions is the first sign of dementure Brun.

Responding to people who answer their own queations is the second sign

I have the contact number and name of the owner of bovingdon airfield, but as Ian said, its not really long enough for top speed/slow down again! Perfect for donuts in my westie though think the rubber is still visable up the back end of the track

I rekon we should get a group of beds/bucks/herts lads together and rent brunters for an afternoon, think its £50 per hour per car......?

Brunters = Bruntingthorpe proving ground, mentioned earlier in this thread, 2 mile runway, used by many motorsport teams for development/clarkson videos etc

Scooby shootout should be a laugh, but a bit far.......
