used 2.5rs

I am looking a getting a used (98-01) 2.5 rs. Is there anything I should look for? What are the main problem areas? Are these aly less reliable than other subarus if treated well? Is there much hp to gain with new exhaust? thanks

The 2.5RS is a great car, most mods on the engine start with a cat-back free flow exhaust and a replacement inlet filter system. Horsepower gains arent that big, but with a 2.5 displacement and relatively light weight with good torque they are a nice alternative to the WRX, certainly good value for money.
The later 2.5RS has a limited slip rear diff, earlier ones have an open diff. In general they tend to be very reliable, a few had cracked blocks replaced under waranty, apart from that they seem to be good.
