Question

Just removed the plugs following blue smoke out the exhaust at the weekend to find a wet oily plug. Air induction system is also soaked with oil so it looks like a gubbed engine.

Looks like it's engine out time !!!!

Whats the best option here, remove engine & repair and modify it. Renew engine with uprated components.

When it looks like I'm going this far, what mod's can be carried out to get a bit more oomph from it.

Any idea's guy's ?

Hi

Just gone through the same thing this weekend, I am at present trying to get the engine out however its a pain!
Look at my threads in this and the Drivetrain forum as I got a reply about internals there.

Good luck!!!

Wink

It could also be a rocker cover gasket thats gone and caused oil to leak into the plug holes...

It might also just be the turbo thats knackered causing the smoke and oil in the intake e.t.c..

Have you done a compression test yet.. Might be worth doing one before you go dismantling things..

Unhappy

Cheers for the reply Dan, but the plug was saturated within the engine not on the outside. The rocker cover gasket on that side of engine looks OK. As for the turbo, I had a spare working turbo that only made a whizzing noise on full boost that I fitted to the car on Wednesday but there's loads of oil returned to the air induction pipes & still loads of blue smoke out the exhaust. I've then pulled a breather off that side of the engine to find loads of blue smoke firing itself into the air induction. Gutt feeling tells me somethings way wrong with it within.

Last Tuesday I had an experience that felt like the car was seizing up on me then the car felt like it was on 3 cylinders. I put it down to the heavy rain we'd had as this normally occurs with the filter I've got fitted in heavy downpours.

I never had a compression check done cause its looking & sounding gubbed.
