picking my 97 'preza type R '97 soon and i only have some blurryish pictures of it so far.

There is a 4 button panel, one reads I/C Water Spray, then about 2 buttons accross, there is another button, which I can only make out 2 of the 3 words.

"Water Spray.....whats the next word and what does this button do compare to the "I/C Water Spray" button??

Also, by the handbrake (not the mirror adjust) there isa blank button, just in front of the mirror adjust...what does that do?

Think it maybe auto spray and manual spray

 

The one by the handbrake is for your adjustable centre diff.There is a manual available on the board for its use. Alls Im gonna say is you will have fun using this LOL

As Spooks says, the one to the left of the handbrake is the DCCD roller. If this is the one you're referring to, and if it is indeed blank, you should double-check immediately, as lack of roller indicates lack of DCCD, and thus the car would not seem to be a Type-R.

 

dcc what roller?

It's a 1997, got 2 doors, has water spray and was described on the auction sheet as exactly this:
"1997 Subaru Impreza WRX STI TYPE-R."

So, there is some possibility it may not be a type R??????

how can i definitely confirm if its a Type R?

What questions can I ask the importer?

Have you got the pics of the switches to post up?

 

Ask for the VIN number and I think there is a check sheet on the SIDC FAQ pages that will allow you to interperate this number.

there was also a non STI TYPE R just known as WRX TYPE R it lost the diff control and the water spray didnt have a red top engine and had no side skirts or front lip spoiler and only had a normal boot spoiler have u seen a picture of the engine if it has a red engine and only 2 doors it must b a STI TYPE R plus u have allready said it has got water spray

 

From what u can see it looks like a type r. Its got 2 doors anyway.
