I was about to buy a dawes - Is it worth waiting for the new dual stage boost version ?

The dual boost one is two Dawes devices with a solenoid which in the open position uses low boost mode and in the closed position uses high boost mode.

Always found that the right foot is quite suitable as an infinitely variable torque controller if you have a progressive throttle vs boost response (trouble is with a small turbo on the original Dawes is that you don't unless you enlarge the bleed hole a bit). So this controller could help that, but you'll still have a step change in torque. This could have useful applications on FWD turbo cars in the wet, or for surgey turbos when used with an RPM switch.

Thanks John. That answers my question nicely.....

I take it from your response that, for example ( ) , a UK 98my Turbo with a 1.5mm bleed hole will NOT be too unpleasant in town or in the wet due to increased,rapid, boost build up.

I was looking at the new Dawes as well. What I would like is a device which would let me run two different boost settings (a bit like two different maps I suppose) e.g. a 0 psi one for motorways, around town or when I've got no money , and a 16 psi setting for when I want to have some fun - all controlled via a switch on the dash.

Would this device give you that functionality, looks to me like this runs low boost up to a point then ups it on WOT or something? Is there an easy way to achieve what I want? Have already got the old Dawes device running constantly at 14 psi.

Fit a stronger return spring on the throttle body!
