Question

I've seen plenty of posts by people with Dawes devices. Having aborted my Re-map (used the money for respray, spoiler, lip etc), I'm now after some 'cheaper' power, even if only temporary like....

I DON'T have a knock link or any such Gismos, and when I've mentioned DAWES at 'certain establishments', it is met with a sharp intake of breath and shaky heads (Like plumbers really..)

Has anyone any nasty tales to tell ? (or are the plumbers putting me off as they don't sell them)

Obviously, at least one person will have taken it to the extreme and blown something up, but I'm not looking to do that (either one!!)...

So ?

if you have a boost gauge, knowledge of max boost for your car, and self control it's no problem

Cool

OK, I will be getting a boost guage....

As its a UK98, Full TSL Decat with ITG panel, any idea how much boost I should use to stay safe... ?

Also, I could run to an AFR OR KnockLink - Which would be the best Safety Measure ?

Bearing in mind that I'm running standard boost, with above mods, would I notice much difference with a Dawes, if I ran 'SAFE' boost increases ? (i.e. with Either AFR or Knock and not both ?)

If you hav ethe choice of either an AFR or Knocklink it has got to be Knocklink all the way!!
Dawes not only raises the boost pressure if desired, its design also allows faster spool up which will show up even if you stay with stock boost pressure.

Well i can´t seem to get my Dawes to work, with my car.....

The problem is that it will bring the boost on to soon and the turbo will make compressor surge....If only i could dampen it a bit it would be great...

And when i´m driving over 4000rpm where the turbo can make full boost it constantly make compressor surge ,with a light touch at the gas pedal....simply to responsive,And the bleedhole is 1,5mm

A weaker dump valve would probably solve the part throttle issue, you'd need an Andy F style 2 stage boost setup by RPM to solve the other, but in these circumstances mapped RPM/TPS boost and duty tables are better - eg AVC-R or ECU.
