Try to get a genuine screen. I got mine replaced through my insurance co. and the quality is v poor. It took a week to get used the slight distortion and worse it gathers dust better than a Dyson.

Give the job a damn good look over before you sign for it too.

Had a (Non-Subaru) screen replaced by a well-known national chain once, turned out to be a very shoddy job. The first time I took the car on the motorway, the upper trim strip blew off, scratching the roof down to the metal, and the first time it rained, I found it leaked like a sieve at the top.

When I got a second opinion from someone else, they pointed out that the upper trim strip was incorrectly refitted, and that the frame hadn't been re-primed where bare metal had been exposed during old screen's removal, leading to several small spots of rust appearing.

Had a devil of a job getting it all sorted out, as my insurer's initial reaction was "You signed for the job as satisfactory when you picked up the car!" In the end, threatened the windscreen place with legal action, and they rolled over and paid for a replacement elsewhere and a resprayed roof.

Can't you get your screen replaced under your full comp insurance? it doesn't affect your no claims and the windscreen excess is usually about £30 ?
