do "old" shape owners dislike new shape?
just an observation, but many old-shape Impreza owners dont wave to me in my new shape, and when ever anyone in a new shape car starts a topic about something good with their car, every old shape owner starts ranting about 'not as good as my car blah blah'
only got to look at some of the posts on here.
just an observation really - surely Scooby owners should stick together, as theres enough people out there who have got it in for us, wihtout a civil war!

Love these threads.
Of course, Impreza ownership is not the exclusive club it once was, so not everyone is clued up with the waving, flashing thing. Some owners may not even see you whilst driving or maybe are on a mobile
.
Me, I'll flash anyone - until the police stop me.

YeP I think new STI is a great looking car. I wave at all imprezas and EVOs. had a wave of a stickered up mark 1 escort a few months back as well. I did dislike the MY01 shape when it first appeared but so did most classic owners. After they brought out the styling tweaks it was a lot better.
i still prefer the classic shape over the 'new age' in looks and the raw feel but prefer the 'new age' in refinement, much higher quality build and feels bigger and more comfortable.
one thing i cant stand tho is the rear of the new age, bloody fugly!!!! still when driving one u dont see the ****

You will always find some people who dont wave.
I personaly think these people are not the true enthusiasts,
just people who bought a scooby because of the cars reputation and
its ability to turn heads.
I own a classic but wouldnt say no to the newer shape.
I must say that i REALLY like the look of the new sti8

I prefer the classic shape and will wave to any scooby owner but I find most new shape owners blank you. I can't help but feel this thread is born out of the STI v M3 thread.
I feel most classic shape owners have learned the limits of the Impreza but there seems to be a real UK STI = invincible theme on SN at the moment and that is a bubble that will be burst when they try it on with something serious! I've NEVER been out accelerated on the road but it will happen, the scooby is quick but not untouchable

which old one do you mean ? i have my01 4 moment. had my98 getting my04.
my98 great drive as std. my01 yawn untill ppp ect . and 30k later then better car by a some mile.
my98 Ncap rating is sh@t , was a passenger in horrid crash , glad it was a my02 ,,,,
imho subaru were looking 4 a wider market with my01 onwards , hence not to raw as older shape and not so good std.So owners can be dull ect. Modded my01 onwards owners tend to be 'scoob owners'

my favourite shape is the classic and when the bug-eye shape came out i didn't like it at all, but i actually think it looks really good now. just takes time to get used to i suppose. i like the very latest shape as well.
come to think of it, i like pretty much anything with a subaru badge on it!

Got to say that I loved being in my MY00 classic as everyone new exactly what it was and waved or smiled. Now have a MY01 bug eye with PPP and UK300 headlights, it does look a lot better than the normal bug eye WRX.
I'd say you get the same response from the people I used to smile and wave at, cos they know its still a scoob but a little different and a lot more refined. They maybe think that if they never had the glorious classic shape then they would maybe have to get a newer replacement which was younger in age and design.
Time moves on, people move on, and so does the type of person that owns a classic. There seem to be a lot of classic imports knocking about now, which kinda of makes the traditional scooby owner not that exclusive anymore! But having said that I still wish I had my classic, as I loved it, gonna try and make the new one thrill me as much!!!

Ive got an MY03, just had the PPP put on and it feels much closer to my m8's classic than the standard car in all aspects. I wave at any scoobs I see but usually get a mixed response (from classic and new age owners alike). Having said that if I'm not looking at the other side of the road its easy to miss another owner coming the other way so I guess I'm guilty of it to a certain extent.
Whenever I go to any meets though everyone just loves scoobs full stop. I had some nice comments about the new car and personally I love it to bits so no complaints.

Weird one this as I have a classic 99uk and nearly always wave & I have had so many blank looks especially from the newer shape scoobs , it's getting a tad embarassing , most classic owners seem to acknowledge though . Record for blank looks & non acknowledgements in one day stands at 7 , is this a record.
Quite the opposite mate...I have a 99 classic and wave at every scooby that passes me...ballpark, 80% of classic owners wave back and only about 10% of new age owners wave.
I feel like such a tit sometimes when I wave to a non-classic owner!

when we had the my00, I found a lot of bug-eye drivers round Herts just blanked us. Now we've got the ITR, we don't bother all all now as I got fed up with the snotty looks!
