... what exhaust should I get? I dont want anything too loud.

Set it to 1 bar boost for now (OEM exhaust, Cusco DP on the way, stuck in the damn striking post office).

Any good catback systems that are not too noisy?

Cheers

Claudius

I run a Milltek 70mm system on mine. Nice quality, not too loud though slightly louder than the Magnex that was on before. Well worth considering if noise is important.

Edited because my English is awful

Quietest exhaust i heard was Rich Wilds, which i think was an MRT one from the turbo back.

Supersprint back box is the way to go! A little restrictive, but I have several customer cars over 300 BHP running this BB. It´s in my oppinion a nice compromise between back pressure and sound.

P.S. Magnex and Scoobysport not loud???? Compared to what????

Mark.

Initially I wanted to get the lightest run of the mill exhaust, BC RSpec3, but I am being advised that may well exceed 110 dB with the Cusco DP!

I dont personally mind the noise, the engine sounds nice, but I dont want to get stopped by the cops every day, so something less noisy but not too restrictive would be great.

Supersprint may be a good idea, as that's available here (I live very close to Italy) and is pretty cheap. I am not sure of how restrictive it would be, though. Anybody know the internal diameter for it?

Thanks for the advice so far

Yeah, I remember reading that on here; but isnt that expensive and needs importing from Australia?

Another thought - the APS one I find to be a good compromise between noise level (I like quiet ) and flow - but the dp/centre is non-standard fitment. So it's either BB only or the full system...

Ask Rich nicely and he might sell you it

TBH i think the downpipe has a far bigger influence on noise levels, and i believe the BPM downpipe to be the quietest.

With the VF35 the Supersprint will not be too restrictive. Most of the STi´s I´ve done had the Supersprint fitted and managed to acchieve about 320 BHP. The gain with a free flow 2,5" back box compared to the Supersprint is max. 5 BHP at this power level.

Cheers, Mark I'll look into the SS, especially as it's widely available here

Hi Mark,
In answer to your question, and I appreciate it is subjective but, Magnex in comparison with standard STi 02 seemed like very little increase although noticable. In comparison with Scoobysport, Blitz & HKS (Hiper?) the Magnex was quieter & the Milltek is somewhere between to my ears - which may not be very good of course

I am interested in your comments about the power limits of Supersprint vs other freeflow 2.5" systems. Do you have comparitive figures & makes for other systems you mention that will only provide circa 5bhp. I am very interested in getting more exhaust gasses flowing on an O2 which no longer runs the VF35 and at least it would give me an idea of what not to buy

Many thanks,
Callum

Callum,

If you run a bigger turbo on your STi, I would not choose a Supersprint. I think 310 - 320 HP is the max. with the Supersprint, after that it is holding you back. But Claudius wants to have a quite back box and the Supersrint IS quite! (and not too bad)

From what I have experienced, a Scoobysport or Magnex are better flowing. (perhaps also other makes, but I don´t have experienced these) If you have BIG HP (over 360), you could gain something with a good 3" system.

Mark.
