STI IV or BMW 740i?
I have been looking at the following 2 cars. Both have similar power but two completely different driving experiences. Both feel quite new, but the BMW gives the "just out of the box" impression. The STI sticks to the road much better, but there really is little to seperate them in terms of acceleration once they are rolling. My heart is saying the Subaru, but my head says "look what I can get for the same money". The BMW has every option and gadget you can imagine. It cost £54k just over 4 years ago.
STI IV
Silver 97R 4DR 41K miles FSH. Standard apart from full exhaust system. This car is in very good condition (I have seen quite a few) and it has just the odd stonechip to distinguish it from new. Owner wants £10750 for it.
BMW 740i
Blue 98S 4.4L V8 Auto 68K miles FBMWSH. Sat Nav, TV, leather, full climate control, park sensors, 18" BMW alloys, electric memory seats, airbags everywhere. This car has had one company owner (a friend of mine) and his company wants £11k for it.
Now I know your all going to be bias, but what do you really think?

MMM, depends what you want out of the car. The 7 series is a sleek looking motorway cruiser, bags of power, pace, style etc, but the auto box reduces the driving thrill.
The STI will obviously be in its element on A/B roads, can you imagine chucking that big old barge of a BM into a hairpin

Depends on what you want from a car - if you do a 1000 miles a week up and down the motorway, or regularly make a long distance journey, take the beemer, but for more average mileages and probably more fun doing them take the scooby.
I went through this debate.. eventually went for a scoob.. but it was more down to parking than anything else.. I like the Scoob but I would have liked the other one too.. I like cars..
Remember when you come to have the BMW fixed it was a 54k car.. and the cost will no doubt be on the same scale..

Tricky one. Both will have approx the same mpg, both will cost about the same to insure. The BMW will be cheaper to service at a main dealer than the Scoob. They are two totally different cars. I'd probably have the Beemer, but them I'm biased.
Just make sure that if the Beemer has been cared for by the same dealer, that it has some warranty left, and if possible, extend it. Doubt that the Scoob has a warranty, but then Lumleys do one, as do a number of aftermarket warranty companies.
The Beemer will make you smile because of the quality of ownership. The Scoob will make you smile because you'll be having more fun driving it. However, I think you'd find that the Beemer would put a longer lasting smile on your face, whereas the honeymoon period with the Scoob would soon be over.
