Hi All,

I just want to know if there is any point in mounting a VF29 on a standard ECu 781...
Will it work without blowing the engine up??
If i control the boost with a Dawes, how much can it safely run.

I´m currently rebuilding a scooby engine, and the td04 has some play and i have a vf29 wich is working fine.

Just want to know if it´s safe.

Thanks,
Skassa

The problem will be tailing off the top end with the Dawes...why not go for an ecutek remap at the same time, and make full use of that nice little turbo?

On the other hand the AFM might be able to compensate for the higher flow?

Alot of people run dawes's set close to boost cut on td04's and it doesn't seem to be a problem really...and the 29 isn't that much larger - trial and hopefully NOT error?

Slap a walbro pump, lambdalink, and a knocklink on it and give it a test mate.

If you set to maximum 1.0 bar @ 6.000 it should be O.K. Mixture is absolutely no problem, it should be rich enough. The standard ECU uses quite a lot of advance, and above about 5.800 RPM the knock correction doesn´t work anymore so the ECU can´t reduce timing. So the car could knock.

Mark.

I ran a vf23 on stock ecu no probs in the early days. As Mark mentions, just make sure boost is tailed off nicely past 5k5 or the stock timing will bite you.
