as far as i know the most common fault when a subaru engine goes bang is on the 3rd cylinder...
this is because the turbo is there thus creating extreme temperature increase around that area....cooking the oil in the 3rd cylinder causing it to cease....thus causing the engine to go bang
is there an aftermarket cover (for the turbo) to stop this?
what are the other options available?

That is A theory... there are several others..

shared oil ways etc..

No one to my knowledge does a cover as no one knows the "real" reason.
