I JUST BOUGHT AN STI7 BUT THINK IT SOUNDS A BIT LAME, IS IT THE BACK BOX WHICH MAKES ALL THE NOISE OR DO I HAVE 2 HAVE THE WHOLE PRODRIVE PERFORMANCE PACK TO MAKE IT SOUND FAT! I DONT WANT TO MESS UP MY WARRANTY AND I KNOW U CAN JUST BUY THE PRODRIVE BACK BOX! I GUY KEEPS DRVIN BUY MY HOUSE AT WARP SPEED IN HIS STI7 WHICH HAS A LOVELY GURGLE TO IT AND ITS JUST RUBBING MY NOSE IN IT NOW!

ADDVICE WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED! THX!

 

Dont know about warranty check with your dealer.. but i have got a Blitz Back box on my 98scooby .. and it sounds amazing...
If you get the whole system done it will give you a deeper throaty sound.. but you will also get more power.. dont skimp go the whole hog.. you dont need to whole PPP pack to get the lovely sound ..

If you want an amazing sound get a HKS full system like im gonna get when my STI8 arrives in July ! wooot!

 

If you want some noise, just replace the center to take the cat out and the backbox, regarding the warrenty.... good dealers will turn a blind eye to this mod

So it's your choice... do you wand your ears to bleed or not

 

IVE CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID I'D VOID THE WARRANTY, I STILL HAVE 2YRS LEFT SO DONT REALLY WANT 2 DO THAT, I GUESS THE PRODRIVE BOX IS MY ONLY ANSWER BUT WILL IT MAKE THAT LOVELY GURGLE WITHOUT THE REST OF THE PACKAGE? WISH I COULD AFFORD THE WHOLE PPP BUT I AM A LITTLE STRAPPED!

 

Prodrive back box will give you a lot more noise than std bb but not like a full de-cat. Try it and see, you can pick up prodrive bb's for £150 in the for sale section.

Hmm, I put an STi 8 back box on my WRX together with downpipe decat and it sounds nice and meaty to me :-)

 

My dealer said any backbox is fine. And they'd turn a blind=eye to the decvat centre section. However, i MUST keep the downpipe!! He was more concerned that i didnt swap the ECU out!
