Question

Got loads of stonchips on the P1 now, just wondered if other P1 drivers have experienced the same problem.

The front spoiler is covered in small stone chips and the bonnet has a small number of them too.

Must say not that impressed with the paintwork. Is this something I can discuss with my dealer before my warranty expires ?

It isnt just restricted to P1's all Subarus suffer from this, unless treated with Armourfend or summit like that

Ash1:
Don't worry about stone chips, my P1 has done 11,000 miles and has got more chips than Harry Ramsden's!! Just wait till the paint starts flaking off your rear spoiler, then it's a warranty job.
Have you got the deep scratches on door windows? Ours has and I've heard a lot of others have the same problem, trying to get it sorted on warranty.

My vents have gone like that, never even thought of getting that done on the warranty.

Clear sign writer's vinyl? Where do you get that?

I had the front end covered with an Armourfend type stuff called Invincashield - considerably cheaper than Armourfend tho'. The lower lip spoiler isn't covered so looks like crap but the rest is fine.
The rear spoiler has been resprayed already and the scratched windows are about to be done under warranty

The deep scratches on the side windows are definately a warranty issue pi55ed, both mine have been replaced no hassle! And my frontend also looks like its been used as a target on the L.A.P.D firing range...! ;-)

Never realised so common a problem - am picking my P1 up tonight after some warranty work - drop links, front suspension, gearbox rebuild, diff problem - and it will be booked back in for the scratched front windows which look a mess!

What are the vents that go orange by the way?The ones on the bonnet or the little triangular wedges?has anyone had any success with front respray under warranty.

John.

phew - sounds like mine's doing quite well. Only problem with it is the pebble dashed front skirt - Armorfend works to an extent but there are huge chips missing off it.

I'm fairly relaxed about it, though (I'll get round to applying a touch up pen at some stage) as it feels a bit inevitable. what other car has such a low front skirt that's been painted to attract high speed rocks?

had one respray under warranty but they refused since then so it is a mass of chips again. the dealer who did the respray was going to fit armourfend, but forgot to order it and the car is a mess of chips again. needless to say not my dealer anymore.

I spoke to a dealer who tried to re-assure me that the paint on Scoobies was excellent, but you wouldn't have guessed it looking at my P1.

Am going to speak to the dealer who sold me the P1 as want to extend the warranty. But will also be pushing for respray as part of the deal.

What are these problems with window scratching ?

So far back spoiler looks ok, but now little nervous, so will pop out at lunch to check.

Must say, otherwise decatted P1 is one awesome motor.

Ash

front windows get scratched by the elctric motor bushes or something - leads to series of parallel scratches on the glass.

Chaps,
Had the whole front including vents done under warranty. Took some time as dealer had to take photo's and send them off. Had the rear spoiler done as well a few months later under the same process. Get on to the dealer and give em hell.
No point having a sonic blue missile if it looks like youve done 15K miles following Richard Burns on a welsh gravel rally.

yo lamchop P1

where is your dealer??

i took mine to my local dealer and they wouldn't even touch up a few stone chips (the really bad ones) let alone a whole respray under warranty.

Contacted Subaru and they gave me a local dealer to contact.

Taking P1 in on Friday to have scratches on windows inspected to see if warranty will cover it.

Will also ask about front vents.

The people who have had windows done etc, has your car been standard? just wondered if warranty will give me some crap as mine is modified.

Will let you know how it goes!

I have a RA 555 in sonic blue and it does look like i have been followin Richard Burns. Where is the best place to take it to get it sorted of is it a case of a touch up pen?

My windows are being done under warranty as is the driver's door inside trim which creaks and rattles like buggery.

Don't think they'll touch the paintwork under warranty though

Dug out this thread as my spoiler on the P1 has started to flake!
I am taking it to a local dealer in a minute to see what they say. Just wondering if any one else has had this problem?

Cheers

mines flaking a little around the p1 logo and near the carbon fibre strip, I think its a common problem and if it gets worse I'll be enquiring about a respray or new spoiler.

I haven't had the problems with the spoiler or windows mentioned on here but the front skirt on mine has always been a bloody nuisance.

It's been sprayed twice now (once for stone chips, once for both chips and to re-align it after it made friends with a kerb) - I bought the armorfend thing (£60 from memory) but haven't fitted it as it looks like a right faff to do (only partly pre-cut!)- I'd forgotten about it, must add it back on the list

the bigger problem with the skirt is its propensity to drag itself on the floor - multi-storeys are a nightmare, as is the odd speed hump.

still love the car to bits thought, no intention of ever selling it.

Have been and seen local dealer, apparently it cant be done under warranty as paint only has one year warranty on it, however i have been told that it could be done under goodwill! I just have to take some photos of that affected areas, email them to the service manager and he will get in touch with Subaru!
Just got to wait for the better weather to clean it, then i can take some piccies!
