Its been windy for the past 2 days here in blighty, i was on the motorway and the wind was gusting but the car behaved very well (unlick my bug eye) until the wind hit me (gusting) at a particular angle. The scoop must of 'jumped' 2/3 inch's at least 5 times while i tried to slow down (wasnt going v fast anyway) makes you think 3 things:

1. How strong are tho's bonnet mountings

2. Will the scoop break off 1st.

3. has subaru (fuji film ) heard of a wind tunnel

All i can say is thank god (allah, budda etc) that i didnt have the STI scoop!

Anyone else got scared by there bouncing scoop/bonnet on the new WRX/STI?

Simon (03 WRX)

not had any jumps, but when you do get up to speed on the motorway, the scoop seems to lift the bonnet up a bit so you can't see the join between the bonnet and the front wings. does make you wonder how strong the lock is on the bonnet.

but then drag factor isn't the scoob's best facet....

I was out on the M25 yesterday with very strong winds blowing! Didn't notice any movement on the STI8 scoop. But did find that it was more difficult to steer in a straight line.

I'm sure the scoop was tested up to 70mph so you should be fine

Interesting to note that the WRC car uses the WRX scoop.

Had my Classic flat out on the rev limiter in 5th (at bruntingthorp before i get complaints about being a fool on the road), only thing that caused concern was the roof flap whistling, thought i would lose that but it stayed on, it did crack the paint on the scoop though
