I think the look on clint's mrs's face says it all 8/10 mate for the spin, loss of marks for the slightly poor entry into the barrier

Diesel maybe, was only slow speed so shouln't be driver problem

Kind of scary really.

From watching that evo clip several times it makes me think it was nothing but cráp driving. I know I'm not him so my comment is strictly my opinion and may not be factual but he WAS still accelerating when he should have been breaking.

Quite scary really, could have been on the road showing his mates what it can't do.

The Scoob, well, no comment.

 

So who was the p1 guys pushing the mr2 over the limit?

 

For those that weren't in the Scoob 'incedent' convoy that may be jumping to conclusions.

As mentioned on previous thread we were rounding the bend of the slip road at a gentle pace, everyone including Clint at the same speed, and unfortunately Clints just went sideways, presumably from a grease patch of some kind, from two cars infront it looked like he'd made a great job of catching it b4 it seemed to go away from him again

 

Nobody's mentioned Clint was the only one on a much tighter line on the inside though?
His offside front wheel (on light load)appeared to lose traction sending him left initially.

Had the inside lane been clear he may well of been able to let it run longer before trying to correct it, as it was I suspect he was conscious of collecting a "friends" Scooby in the nearside, therefore making an early correction and turning it around.

 

Glad I'm not Clint, not because he span on a slippery surface, but because the misses was in the car, bloody hell, wonder what the rest of the trip was like?

Jameswrx me misses says allo and yes there was a few choice words, she,s ok though!

Do feel sorry for the evo hope they are both ok, I heard that his other half was quite bad, does any body know how they are?

Stag do was great head hurts! (car didn't help, but in body shop monday! )

im still amazed at the lack of run off on tracks

These track designers would be ripped to shred in industry where safety critical systems are paramount, just look at donno, bask straight, reach over 100muffs and presented with a WALL less than 2 foot away. pure genius

All of you who have been on track will know how sudden something like this could happen to you, would just be nice to fell a little safer with more run off.. im no expert but there must be industry type experts who could reduce the chances of injury/impact in run offs im sure, I know most of it is to stop you flipping, but things like more tarmac for running off, etc

Few of us on track days are experts, and at that speed an incident can be caused in nano seconds…..a little common sense in track design would do along way to saving peoples cars/lives

Sorry to yall who banged up their cars……as much as people all like to look at it and make OOOHHHHH and WHHHOOOWWW noises coupled by smug comments its never fun, especially if it happens to you (I know the feeling as I have has small knocks in mine)

I was there watching when the Evo went off. Looked like he was trying to keep a straight line into quarry, but caught his inside wheel on the grass. Once that happened he had no escape at all. May have been error as the cause, but he certainly had no way of avoding the wall once his wheel hit the wet grass. The amazing thing is that he seemed to lose almost no speed before the hit. Scary stuff. I agree with what was said though, for such a fast entry corner there really was inadequate run-off or catchment.
This is why i prefer airfields!!!

I am surprised it does not have a gravel run off? the track day I did in france did, and it is amazing how fast it stops a car. I witnessed a ferrari 355 come off and go straight into it. Stopped almost straight away, and the run off was about the same as the one in the evo vid. His only damage? well quite a few stone chips - but cheaper than hitting the car

 

Scary spin. Could happen to any of us I guess, but at such low speed Amazed.

BTW the Evo guy could have at least *tried* to take the corner

Sorry for the evo guy, nasty corner there tho, seen people come over the approach backwards before and thats a good 200 - 300 meters from the corner. Unlucky.

 

I saw the EVO's on the approach to Avon Rise a lap or two before the crash. They were going very fast, with at least one car undertaking (on the left) into the bend. That can't be a good idea and it's a yellow card offence.

I'm not saying that this caused the crash because it didn't, but it looked like there was some bravado going on in difficult conditions, before the incident IMHO.

The EVO's looked extremely quick and I'm not suprised that something happened, Quarries nearly collected the scoob with half thier speed.

PS this is not meant as a dig at EVO owners, I would say the same if I saw Scoobs doing the same (and they have done in the past).

 

I would of loved to driven in the dry, when I went out in the Puslar with all the others at 4pm it was very very wet and so much care was needed, epsecially with mud on the outside of both shicaines. Had my brother's blue Pulsar go straight on at one (and he has 6 pots!) and a blue MR2 spin big time behind me when the heavens opened really heavy and I backed off.

Hope everyone was ok in those incidents.

Hope you don't mind me asking but do you have any idea of what caused it? Looked weird from the vid can't quite see how it went was it just a wheel on the dirty stuff or perhaps someone had spilled some diesel.

I'm asking as I was following a van yesterday that was p1ssing out diesel from its fuel tank and as I noticed it leak I was doing about 50 behind it on a slip road and had a similar moment to you, I was lucky enough not to spin but my girlfriend went mad at me. Wonder if there was a diesel/oil spill involved in your moment.

Yes it was mein the P1 behind the mr2 spinning. That one was supercharged and pushing quite hard, could see the spin coming for a while.
Quarry is regarded as one of the hardest corneres to negociate in the country and im surprised so few went off there saturday, felt bad for the evo though.

 

I don't think the kitty litter is always better, seen 1 too many saloon cars roll on trackdays, tarmac is used more and more as run off, so you can scrub more speed off safely. Having been off at donnington at 110+ and getting away with it I feel very sorry for the Evo driver
