Cool

I wonder what the highest recorded power figure is for a standard UK or WRX engine is?

David Wallis' 345 at Well lane?
John Banks Ecutek road dyno results?
Andy forrest's 369 at Star?

Answers on a postcard please.

Paul

of dear, why don't you guys just get together and compare **** sizes and settle this once and for all

or would that depend on who's tape measure is used and cause just as much arguing? I heard Star's measuring tape is a bit more flattering the Powerstations

ozzy...

I suspect paul has his reasons as He isnt into bitching...

by std, I presume it means internals werent touched..

Mine was quite high for a uk..

Andy does have Sti Pistons which I would imagine help..

Rich Wild and Andy Tang were also pretty mad..

I had std td05 too not even front entried..

I am serious.

did I mention the 0.9bar (13psi) was a warm up and the actual runs were at 1.65->1.55 bar?

Guys, have you all lost your sense of humour recently? I think you've been spending too much time in your garages

Question

No you did not mention the warm up, hence the cofusion on my part that you stated 303bhp, then state only Bob and Harvey have run more power at PE, yet i know of at least 2 other cars, no doubt more, that have run more than 303 at PE.

So why feed snipets of info, or are you just out to wind up, which is not like you.

Sure you can see the confusion when you put your statements together.

Guess the figure was healthy at 1.6 then, what was it? or are you just going to keep everyone guessing, and let another BHP war erupt?

LOL. At the end of the day it is fuel, boost and timing. I think I'm pretty much on the sweet spot for as much boost as I dare (on the edge of the best timing I could run plus 12:1 AFR), so minor differences are going to be from variations in minor spec of the car, temperature and measurement technique?

More power to come I think if we had the time, had trouble getting enough fuel into it on 550 injectors and extra fuel pressure.

must be about 440bhp then

About that, maybe.

Trouble like having to add more to the fuel map than you would normally. All using factory JECS ecu.

Would liked to have run more boost but couldn't get the turbo to hold any more due to wastegate blowing open. Tweaked bracket, but now it's bent back a little.

Paul with the greatest of respect, i dont have to get a grip, with all the crap that has been posted on here since the run up to Well Lane 4, i do not want another war kicking off, as i dont have the time, nor the inclination to deal with it.

As someone who told the relevant people to get a grip over it all, i would have thought you understood where i was coming from. Anyway **** happens, no skin of mine or your nose no doubt.

BTW i was genuingley asking you to clarify your statements, as they made no sense to me, guess i was "playing" into your hands there, as you have now stated that you wanted a bit of suspense and intrigue, so by me asking you to clarify figures then you succeeded.

I take it this was using one of the scoobyecu chips that you have no doubt mapped? if so well done, as i said to you and David at Well Lane in October, Well Done.

Cheers Paul

Exclamation

356bhp - MY99 UK engine

Standard fuel pump
Standard yellow top (440cc) injectors
Standard fuel regulator
Standard oil pump
Standard engine internals
Standard gearbox
Standard UK clutch!!!

Running 1.3bar, tailing off to 1.25bar at the top end

100% injector duty cycle at 6000rpm

(Basically - Big turbo, FMIC and Link)

That said, I will do things differently this time around!!

Circumstances meant that I didn't get a chance to fit my 550cc injectors, uprated fuel pump and fuel regulator! Althought I'm confident it would have made over 360bhp!!

I can't say that the block would have lasted! Probably the same for the clutch and diffs!

The figures appear normal maximum for 550's maxed out - I managed ~360 (DeltaDyno) with 440's @ 98.7%....before 3rd went

If you will run silly boost with a good turbo and the setup is healthy enough you will get the power IMHO, at least for a while I think we can all map quite fine and dandy (it is not difficult after all if we are honest), and I don't think anyone thinks anyone can pull a rabbit out of the hat and get 50 BHP more than someone else at the same boost with genuine measurements on the same or very similar setup. Andy and I both had our 550s at 100% for the fun areas of the RPM range, I think this is expected. If I wanted to run richer than 12:1 I don't think I could.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what ECU, if you have the same turbo and FMIC and you run the boost, if your map is half decent the performance should be very similar.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what ECU,
What about VFM though ? Std ECU, Std engine and (nearly ) Std turbo
