Highest BHP for non sti engine?
VFM is good Andy, but driveability, reliability and road manners are not cheap. I don't think there is any getting away from it.
Since I broke my gearbox and haven't run the car daily I've really missed the roundedness and reliability it had before which is why I've shelled out the cash. I hope that I've learned my lesson and will stick to my 450/400 target rigidly. Trouble is this time there is nowhere to move onto if I break it to still keep it what for me is a pleasant driver with stock manners.
Pushing stock components beyond their design limits is fun as it feels like something for nothing, but really it isn't if you lose that solid dependability and faith that something isn't going to drop off it.
If we grenade tune them that is valid, but it doesn't produce a complete car to me. We are just trading dyno glory spots
for luck with our mean time between failures. One bit of detonation at this level and it's toast, and the thought of running less than silly boost on pump fuel on the stroker is nice at least psychologically. Optimax and 1.7 bar are not happy bedfellows IMHO.

That's all great Paul. Well done
No need to delete the thread though. What did you expect posting about BHP in the Drivetrain forum
A mother and toddler meeting
Maybe that is quite a good description

Christian,
what I meant was, that you hadn't run more than Rob at PE. Although I know that was probably down to not getting the turbo spooling up, and you could run the "on the road" boost on the rollers you would have registered more power.

Awesome results there.
Well done Rob and Pavlo. Gives us all something to aspire to.
I've had 356 and 344 from my cars now at Well Lane
The 356 was on standard UK96 internals with a Link, FMIC, 550s etc etc.
The 344 was on a UK97 with standard internals, injectors and ECU!!
and like Andy Tang, standard UK gearbox and clutch!! although I did have an uprated pump. Torque was nothing like the white car though (limitations of the standard ECU) 348lbsft compared to 292lbsft.
It's good to see how the lowly UKs and WRXs have come on in the past 2 years. We are now seeing results that back then would have been fairy tales.
As long as there are people out there like Dave Wallis, Pavlo, AndyF, John Banks, Harvey, etc. etc. we can hopefully keep pushing the boundaries like this.
I think it's great.

Had I better get this 20G to a rolling road before I pull the engine out then?

If you want my opinion (and everyone has one), my estimate is 320 WHP on pump fuel at 1.5 bar and 353 WHP with additives at 1.7 bar dropping to 1.6 on the TD06, so with * 1.22 that is 390 BHP and 431 BHP. Wanting to see if water will get me the extra that NF did. I've already subtracted 10 WHP based on worn tyres for the above tests. Runs were same in both directions on a road near T-uk's place.
But I think we all question what the frame of reference is with accelerometers, engine or chassis dynos, so I am only saying these are my honest opinion. They could be inflated, but results from lower tuned cars do not suggest so IMHO.
I am not optimistic that the UK engine would hold this sort of power long term hence my stroker build.

might be tweenierob...
Only Subarus to run more power at PE have been Bob Rawle and Harvey I believe.
More power to come I think if we had the time, had trouble getting enough fuel into it on 550 injectors and extra fuel pressure.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
