Exclamation

For my old car (and probably my current car) I used:

Castrol RS in the summer (as it's a little thicker)
Mobil 1 Motorsport in the winter (as it's a little thinner)

I'd say a choice of three:

Castrol RS 10W/60
Motul 15W/50
Mobil 1 15W/50

I'm due to change the oil next weekend.... at the moment it has Motul in from scoobymania but i may get Catsrol RS from castrol classics (£28 for 4 litre) or Halfords have 20% off this weekend so may try Mobil from them. Not sure yet.

Tony.

personal preference (after years of running competition vehicles) is for Millers Oils or Silkolene........only oils we have never had any issues with!!
and the Miller's in particular is exceptional value for money!!

That's £7 a litre when Castrol RS is 6.25.

Surely people will prefer the big brand name Castrol especially if it is cheaper as well?

claudius.....like i said RRP........the castrol has a RRP something along the same lines for 4ltrs!!
the above post states the price being paid!!

personally don't go with the "brand" is best lark, just look what happened with shell "formula" or whatever they called their petrol in the 80's/90's and also how many problems were there when "mobil1" was first released...........

millers is a very small (in refining terms) factory that responds almost instantly to changing industry requirements and produces a consistently high quality product.......they are at this moment in time one of the only companies to have a "VW" endorsed diesel oil available for their new range of diesel engines that will NOT affect your warranty.....the list goes on!!

Sorry, I thought Castrol RS was £100 retail for 4 x 4 = 16 litres which would make it 6.25 a litre.

Just put millers in mine as they are local to my work and I get quite a good discount from the local motor factors (£25 for 10 bottles of octane booster and £19.50 for 5 litres of millers fully synth oil-not the racing oil listed above by the way, just the normal xfs stuff) Still reserving judgment on the oil but my tappets are a LOT quieter than on Mobil!
