I mean the back box tail pipe, as mine is particularly filthy.

Agree with the autosol comment. Perfect finish like new - and its quite cheap - from any halfords. 1 tube will last for ages - only takes tiny amount for full tail pipe.

I found wheel cleaner to be the best at 'cleaning' the tail pipe, mine got very filthy, autoglym cleaner did the trick with no hard scrubbing or polishing. I tried dureglit once but it was just too dirty and I gave up

This might sound funny but try "Jif" or "Cif" as its now called and one of those soft green pan scowerers. Works an absolute treat and most of us can find this under the kitchen sink!!!

Autoglym tar remover takes all the dirt, soot and tar off really easily.

The easiest solution here is to keep it as clean as the bodywork I apply Autoglym metal polish to mine every week if its been raining and got splashed
