I just dont get this
Ive seen this said load on here:
"My scoob struggles from 120 upwards" (dunno how to do the quote thang
)
Now my scoob, a bog standard rb5, hits 120 in 4th no problem at all. Change up and it keeps going. I bottled going for rev limiter at 130. Even if I was in 5th accelerating from 80 its no slouch, particularly after 4k revs.
Maybe because this is the fasted car ive ever owned or been in, I am inexperienced as to how fast other cars pull after 120, but I dont think a scoob is slow.
I particularly thing this is crap when I hear people saying STI scoobs are slow over a ton or 120.
I'll get me coat now

Fellow RB5 driver mate and I agree that the car does keep pulling at silly speeds, but if you come up against certain other 'sports cars' driving at loony speeds they will pull away from you.
IMO the scoob's pretty much on it's own in the 0-80 range but after that welcome one and all to the party.
Still the most fun car ever.
Keep playing..

My UK MY00 used to have real problems over 60mph - it was so unresponsive in fifth gear it wasn't funny. There were times when I actually regretted buying it!! But then I added the PPP and everything changed. It's now VERY responsive in ALL gears, well into treble figures. I think most standard scoobs are probably a bit restricted. I'm not a mechanic, I just know that there is an unbelievable difference from 30mph++ in all gears with the PPP...
Your RB5 isn't the WR version with the PPP is it? That may explain why you are enjoying your car so much!!

Having seen a Pontiac Firebird Convertible pull away from me at 120mph having been equal up to that point (70mph roll-on) in can beleive it. I get nervous at that speed as my ally bonnet starts trying to break free. I must buy a set of bonnet pins, just for peace of mind.

It depends on your definition of 'pulling well' My scooby pulls like a train to 120mph but the 20mph to 140 takes a lot longer and if you want to go to an indicated 160 you need a lot of "track"
It still pulls well up to 150mph but if I were to be racing say an M3 or Fiat Coupe Turbo whilst I'd near matched or in the fiats case beaten it to 120 I'd start to wonder which direction they went it. Just look at the shape of the nose for crying out loud
For the record I've never raced an M3 of Fiat.....not saying I wouldn't, just that I've not

Ive recently had 150 mph out of Std UK Turbo so all this "no top end" has had me baffled aswell... it still had more to go reckon could have easily hit the 160mph that is on speedo and the car was no slouch getting there either just pulled nicely power was always there...

so wouldn't know.
