I've been offered an STI backbox, taken off a new car, from a main Subaru dealer for £150. I drive a classic shape MY00, and apparently the bracket needs a bit of work to make it fit. Is it worth doing, or should I hold out for a Prodrive Backbox designed for a classic shape car?

The main dealer will be happy to fit the box. All I'm after is a bit of extra woofle from my car, nothing major, just a bit more noise - a power increase isn't particularly important either.

Well you won't get much sound out of a standard Sti BB mate.

Mine came off before I picked the car up

You'd probably get one off here for virtually nothing if you ask

The modification ia real easy, already done it once myself, you just need to extend the single hanger in front (i.e. towards engine) of the box by about 5".

As for the noise, I wouldn't expect the standard STi box to sound significantly different to what you've got fitted already.

I have PPP backbox on mine, that cost same £150 second hand from the for sale section. Love it - sounds great (although I'm sure it wouldn't be loud enough for some of the peeps on here )
