There has been some mention about the OIL consumtion on the STi7 PPP'd engine on previous threads.
I am using 1 Litre every 1000 miles is this excessive or is it just a way of Servicing the engine on the run

I never check my oil level, thats what I pay the garage for
I have stopped doing a 5000 mile oil and filter change now, I have a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty and when it runs out I'll sell the car.
The only car that I ever had that run low on oil between services was my old GSi Vectra and that was cos the tossers at the garage never bothered to change the oil and filter twice while it was in for a service, so I just ran it dry and hoped it would seize up, it never did tho

LOL @ Big goon

I do a 5000 mile oil change, why!! as I have replaced all the oil in that time
perhaps just ask them to to the filter
LOL Due in for the 12 monthly mid April.
Russ,
Only when it warm and I am alive

My dealer only puts Semi-Synthetic Oil in
would consumption be improved if Fully synthetic were used ????

Tony,
I've heard that Scoobs don't like synthetic because it's thinner and i think I was told that it drains from the tappets to easily therefore causeing nice start up damage...... Also bang goes the warranty then if it goes bang because they'll say... "wrong oil in this sir"
Oh by the way... you've posted twice with out too much of the apparant l tter mis ing probl m!!!!

Synthetic is actually better than the semi synthetic that is used (thus the reason that STi have Motul 300v as their recommended oil
)
Using the wrong grade will harm your engine over time though (but that goes with any oil) and eventually all oils will drain back into the sump (thus the reason they use additives in the oils to make them stick to the metal parts).
Tony,
i definately would say that 1 ltr every 1000 miles is excessive, ive done over 30 in my scoob and ive not used one bit of oil (running fully synthetic 15w50) but you could try changing but i doubt if that would make any difference.... i personally would report it back to subaru uk and get them to look into it.

Fizz,
i should also point out to you that fully synthetic oil is better at higher temps than semi or mineral oil, and id shoot who ever gave you the idea that fully synth oil isnt that good
