After 5 long months having my Sti5 engine rebuilt, I collected the car today.....!

Last October it destroyed itself slowing down for a motorway roundabout - the engine was completely totalled, the only bit we could save was the block.

Spent the first two months waiting for Warranty Holdings to agree to pay out, before i authourised the garage to get on with the rebuild. Trouble is of course, i've had to pay out £7000 to get the car back.

Needless to say, Warranty Holdings have abslutely NO intention of paying out - the usual "Must have been run low on oil at some time" excuse. Looks like it'll all have to go to court, can't believe they're fighting it, they've got no chance of defending it successfully.

In any case, its back, it looks fabulous (bodywork tarted up whilst it was in), sounds brilliant and i just love driving it again. Biggest problem? 3000 Revs - 60mph for the next 1000 miles!!! Almost impossible to do!

Many thanks to Phil and all at Barretts Motorsport for a top job!

So, what meets we got coming up this summer people?

Russ

I think it was the storage bill that pushed it up a bit!

The cost was nearly all parts, new crank, heads, rods etc etc. They don't come cheap! Phils bit was £1500 which seems fair enough, i also had a few other bits done, clutch/brakes etc.

Its just great to get back in it - i was grinning like a fool driving home, winodws down listening to the bubble bubble!

'course, being an RA, its just 20mph per 1000 revs in top, the turbo doesn't even spin up - this'll be the longest 1000 miles i've ever driven!

Yeh....£7000

Should be pushing at least 600bhp safely for that kind of money?

Russ,

Um, this should be my post Just over a month ago I got back my STi5 from Phil at Barretts after 8 months!! The first three months were taken up with Warranty Holdings pi55ing me about... I got exactly the same excuse as you They are completely useless (to put it mildly...)

I have done my 1000 miles - in fact, I've done 2500! Am driving just a bit to make up for lost time. Mail me off-line. Where are you based? I am in the South East as well...

Can't believe your post! You must have seen my car - silver with 18" Prodrives

Kev

PS Phil did a top job with mine as well

Edited as I forgot, I can't swear

If theres a few of you with the same problem maybe you could pool your resources etc and take warranty holdings to court together.

Ive had a claim turned down by these shysters as well, but that was ages ago for a syncro in second gear. Good luck whatever u do and its good to get yer car back isnt it.
