I am about to take ownership of a MY00 turbo wagon with a standard exhaust. I currently run a bug-eye WRX with a full scoobysport decat exhaust - bloody marvellous, by the way.

I am only looking at a backbox for the wagon at this stage and have been advised today (thanks stratman) that a scoobysport backbox would be uncomfortably loud on a wagon.

So scoobypeople, any advice, comments, sales pitches and general observations would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Tom

My MY99 5dr isn't so good for noise. Booms quite badly with a PE twin backbox, SS downpipe and decat non-res centre, sets off car alarms in the local village.

Tried sound proofing felt which helps very slightly, may try sound deadening mat soon, then resonated centre, and finally equal length manifold if funds permit. Would love a MY03, but don't really want to spend 1500-2000 bringing it up to the same spec.

Note that the new Scoobysport backbox is reputedly quieter than the original one.

Quite happy with the performance, tho.

Second hand ProDrive BB on my MY99 wagon.

At 3K revs as 'albob' says it's great. I too drive with the windows down sometimes ... annoys the Mrs though

The BB I bought had only been on a Scoob for about 3 months. It cost me £200, and after a good clean and polish looked like new.

I was going to go for a Magnex oval as I thought they looked good on the wagon, but after seeing the single pipe on my wagon, I think it looks better.

Only problem is you'll want more. You'll start to not notice the sound and then start thinking about de-cat and downpipes ... like I am. Oh dear £££££

J.

Forgot to mention that if you are considering a twin pipe to make the car look similar to standard, then Stephen Done's website (link on dyno pages) has a piccie.

To a non scoob owner, no difference, probably; but it does make a racket.

My wife hated the STI BB that was on previously, for the very reason that it made the car look boy racer.
