Just fitted a another powersteering reservoir to my MY95 wrx tonight as my old one was leaking from where the two halfs join together.. also changed all the rubbber 'o' rings....

However its still leaking...!!!! its not coming from the sensor wire e.t.c looks to be where the reservoir joins the pump.. can it leak from anywhere else..????

Has anyone got any ideas of how to stop this...!!

Relocation with a different reservoir...???? any tips i.e does the reservoir need to be a certain distance/height away from the pump e.t.c..???

Dan, i thought that mine was leaking from the bottom seal but it turned out to be the high pressure pipe to the pump.. it didnt look like it could be coming from there as it was leaking only slightly..
Do yourself a favour and check it as well.. 17/19mm iirc

I had the same problem with the resovoir leaking at the two halves.

Thought it was the seals, sensor wire, cap or Pipework but in the end with alot of tissue wrapped around it found it to be the resovior itself.

I tried everything to seal it but nothing worked.

In the end I got a new resovoir from Subaru IIRC it was £90!!!!!

Tried again tonight to fix it but its still leaking... the new powersteering reservior i bought was working fine on the blokes car i bought it off...

It seems to be leaking from underneather the reservoir, its not from the two halfs.. I have fitted new 'o' rings... but still no joy, i just cant see where else it can be leaking from..

Any more thoughts

Have you replaced both O rings.

There is one on the small neck of the resovoir and one under the resovoir mounting bracket.

I replaced these 3 times with ones I got from Halfords but none seemed to work and leaked again. They just wern't the correct size/shape.

So it is leaking under the resovoir but ontop of the mounting bracket right?

You haven't over filled have you so it is being pushed out through the cap? just a thought...

This is always a pain in the ar$e took me ages to sort mine out.

Just had another go but not tried it out yet... the only place it can be leaking from is from where the reservoir fits into the pump... tried a bit of heat and oil resistant geasket sealer so ill see what happens..

Its not overfilled either.

The small rubber O ring on the bottom of the resovoir is square if ya know what i mean. It was on mine

It is roung in shape but the rubber is square.
That is why I could not get a good replacement.

I also tried sealant and it does last for a few days before leaking again.

I would buy the proper O ring from Grahamgoode they sell them.

Cheers

Had another go... well twice..! finally its stopped leaking for now.... the problem was: i thought adding a slightly thinker 'o' ring would help it seal better, however it was not allowing the spout on the reservoir to sit in the pump properly, so i put a thiner 'o' ring on the spout and it has seemed to have worked for now... touch wood..!!!

Thanks for the help guys..!!
