Moderators please leave for a few days.

I have emailed as many customers as I can, but just incase I've missed anyone, or if other suppliers have the same problem.....

I have just discovered that "some" of the recently supplied Walbro fuel pump kits, have had the incorrect filter supplied. This ONLY relates to the ITP160 kit.

The correct filter should sit about 3~4" lower than the bottom of the pump.

The incorrect filter only has about 1" of filter below the pump, with the rest pointing towards the top of the tank.....

This WILL cause very bad fuel surge !!!

Please can anyone that has received the wrong filter from me, email me so that I can post the correct one out.

David,

"ITP160" is the pt.no for the Subaru 255lt PRE 2001 pump kit.

I'll try and borrow a camera, and post a picture of the filters.

Mark.

Fitting the Subaru original filter onto the Walbro seems to work fine. Mine was surging on half a tank at Knockhill with the supplied one, when I went back with the Subaru filter it was fine at least down to a quarter tank. It also surged on the road just as the fuel light came on in a straight line, not at all in a straight line since.

Thanks Mark - YHM

However, reading the above, I don't thing the socks on the pumps I've got are sitting so much higher than the OE one.

As I said, this only relates to "recently" supplied pumps, say in the last month, to be safe.

This is the WRONG filter. Whilst it's not very clear, which way the "elbow" is pointing, the elbow on the correct filter is fitted at the very end, and not part way down the filter.

Pic' borrowed from Neil.

When replacing the pump I used the O/E filter and then bent the steel support bracket on which the pump is attached to a more vertical position. This means that pick up is that much lower,surge is only evident about the time the fuel light comes on and at that point a total re-fuel is 55/56 litres.

<Mod mode off>

We fitted standard Subaru filter to mine, never had fuel surge since.

Thanks for the warning Mark

<Mod mode on>

I am leaving this here, as IMO it is not an advert, but a safety notice that I think Mark believes should be rectified.

Steven
