I was driving around normally and from a standstill my car "banged" and then I couldn't select any gear. I heard a bit of a rattle but this noise goes away when I depress the clutch. My service engineers told me my clutch was on it's way out, has it gone or is it the gearbox?
Sounds more like the box. The fact that the clutch can make the noise stop suggests it can still disengage the input shaft from the engine, and thus make the noise stop. I'de get your friendly Subaru Assist / AA / RAC / Green Flag etc man to have a look at it....
Car is going to RC today to be looked at, they also believe it to be the gearbox. Does any one know the best way to go about uprating it. (UK MY98) running an "estimated" 320BHP
