cfc, I am one of those "lucky ba&*&*(s" as I am picking up my STi8 next week.

I have had a MY99 for 3 years and was sorry to let it go, but I do like the new shape and I didn't want the hassle of a car not in warranty etc....

Yesterday, when I popped in to the dealers to give them my ICE to install (qnd take a peek at my one being prepared), I noticed a RB5 on the forecourt for sale - £15K.

If that had been there when I placed the order for the STi......things could have been different! I still notice the classic shapes on the road more than the new ones and personally think that cars like the RB5 and P1 are all time classic Scoobs, but I am moving on.

Maybe see you around cfc as I am in SW London, look out for a silver STi8, anthracite wheels and a big grin!

Peter

Sorry thats it!!! I've had enough all u lucky mother!"£$£%^ out there picking up your my03 sti's and wrx's tomorrow, can't wait! can't wait! run it in! quick as I can! in one day! PPP! well i'm jealous, pi&&£$ off and I still cant afford to upgrade my dearly loved but greying my00 classic,(baby 9mth and wife 5 yrs) can't stand the bug eye but love the slant eye... think I'll keep away from scoobynet until the version 9 comes out and read about everyone booing about their crap trade in prices..... count yourselfs lucky and enjoy your cars gentlemen but stay safe.... spare a thought for many a classic driver who may dearly want but cant afford a brand spanking new absolutely georgeous bit of kit on four wheels that makes us all tingle when we hear that flat four speak, and sling it round a corner at 70 miles an hour with big grins on our faces. lucky ba&*&*(s a severely feeling sorry for himself scooby driver of west london.

another vote for the classic- I think the magic has been lost from the new scooby's. I'm sure they are great cars but in the same way a MK2 Golf GTI just isnt a classic like the MK1 Golf GTI, there will only ever be one true scoob- the MK1 classic.

I had the choice of buying an older classic or a new one money no object and I chose the older one.

I like a lot of other people can afford a new one but it still doesn't really do it for me the way the 'classic' does.I desperately want to like the new model but don't even though it is probably a far superior car.

Remember that a STi7 has a similar power/weight ratio as a MY00 classic...

Time to move on! IMHO

Classics are great cars but to coin a phrase are "classic"

Love them or hate them if you want a new scooby then Wrexxies and sti7/8s are the cars of the moment.

Classics will become fodder for the baseball hat Nova/Saxo brigade which will turn them into the cossers of the 90's. Fine by me and good luck to them but I expect the car image will take a real nose dive as a concequence.

Thumbs up

Yeah, but IMHO people will always think of the classic as the ultimate impreza, I am very proud to own one, thats not too say that i would'nt have a STI8 cos I would but money stops me from buying one a new STI8 with PPP £27,000 I'll stick with my classic for now guys.
Cheers
Colin

There are quite a few of us in the same boat mate. I've got a 93 wrx, had it for a few years now and would love to upgrade but it just isn't going to happen for a very long time (or I could just sell the house and buy an STI8)

My god, what people will admit to on the www :0 Shame on you!

Warranties are for poofs. Real men buy a set of Torx bits and a 2-foot knucklebar.

I should take note of the good side of your life instead of whingeing about how badly off you are! If things had taken a different turn for you,you could be sleeping in a cardboard box somewhere.

There is nothing wrong with a classic anyway. Like a previous post says,I am really proud of my STI 1 and would not change it for anything.

I live almost next to a main dealer. This weekend I have seen several STI8's, one was being ragged up my high street with a clear liquid pouring out of its exhaust. well done sir!

Fixing and upgrading your current 'old' car will cost less than the first years depreciation on an STI8; even if the engine fell out tomorrow.

I've thought long and hard about an STI7 and STI8, and while a lot of people can afford one; I can't justify the benefits to myself.
