So what was your outcome Dunc20 or don't you know yet? My girlfriend has given me some grief coz I won't let her drive my scoob. She drives a 1.1 fiesta on third party only so this post backed me up on my refusal to let her until she is insured

I still think that she wasnt covered at all, 3rd party is with the POLICY OWNERS consent, not a named driver...... i think you were rather lucky there, and as ive already stated, next time you may not be.

So those old threads. where people talked about removing undeclared mods after an accident so as not to let the insurance companies find out........ Or not to tell them in the first place............. or what devices to buy that will allow you to drive over the speed limit yet warn you of cameras etc........

Thas thread was blatantly telling people and advising them on ways to commit insurance fraud and in part some of the posts condoned it and other fraudulent activity.

I think that a lot of people forget the Rules, Policies and Disclaimers after a while, if indeed they read them in the first place
Have a look around and there are probably a large amount of threads & posts that contravene them. Certain people take perverse delight in posting controversial and inflamatory posts/threads and by and large, they are allowed to get away with it That sort of rubbish is not what SN is all about and it is the minority that are out to cause trouble and stir things up. They know who they are. They are certainly welcome here but only if they abide by the Rules, Policies and Disclaimers to which they agreed when they joined.
What I would ask is that everyone read the Rules, Polices and Disclaimers again, then consider the implications or possible outcomes of any of their posts BEFORE they click the submit button.
In that way, hopefully we can get back to a good-natured and helpful community, the one that keeps us coming back here.

for one im not nick picking, the plain and simple fact is,is that if your g/f was driving the car after you gave her the keys to do so (ie whilst you were out) and she never had your fathers permission before you went out at that time then theoretically its driving without insurance.
To start with Dunc, if you have been on the receiving end of an idiot without insurance (and a few people on here will feel the same as they have been in the same situation) then you frown heavily upon anyone trying it on with an insurance co (and we get a few on here btw
) so if you look at it in this light.....
You yourself are not insured, your on someone elses policy whos actually covering your insurance, your the main driver of the car (so that makes your insurance invalid if you read the small print) and believe it or not, 3rd party insurance people actually need permission everytime the car goes out otherwise....
Its like me borrowing my mates car once, then just jumping into it the next night and driving off, its a big no no as im driving without the owners consent and you can be done for that if the police officer isnt feeling generous.
Insurance is a mine field, if they can invalidate it then they will, so i would be very careful what you do and read the small print as it all counts when you sign and send it back to them (making it a legal document).

Read an interesting piece in yesterdays Mirror whislt at work today re insurance costs etc
it is an estimated 850 million a year it costs or is lost through ppl having no insurance
Also mentioned of the extra cost to us ppl who pay insurance to cover non insured lossess etc
What I thought was surprising was that someone quoted saying that all that happens when someone gets stopped is a fine of usually 100-150 pounds and thats it
Strange really as I got 5 points and 150 quid fine
Im glad the original thread was removed, for everyones sake
