hey all !

as you know, the Cricket, Soccer, Rugby, Tennis, League, Darts !! and Commonwealth games - us aussies seem to have rubbed it in recent times !

I know apart from here and Japan, WRXs are very popular in the UK also. So, when it comes to the Subaru WRX scene . . . who does it better ?

I think we do !

Oh sh*t ! . . . its not meant to be tooooo sh*t stirring !

this is how we do it -
http://www.pbase.com/middle_man/barrajong_valley_cruise_pics
http://www.angelfire.com/nc3/mikeynsw/barrajong.html

From what i've gathered, we tend to care more of whats under the bonnet than the exterior. YOu guys in the UK into the sleeper attitude to car mods ? . . . you know, quiet looks but monster attitude !!!

nah we leave the "monster attitudes" to the Ozzies

I had an Ozzy mate stay with me for a few days last week and he was telling me about some of the mad cars over there. He explained about the "half-cut" imports that you do where the engine half of a car in Japan is chopped off (with electrics, engine, gearbox etc) and shipped to Australia for you boys to swap the engine into some completely unsuitable donar cars, usually some old Mazda from the seventies - lol

oh yeah . . . Datsun 1600's with Nissan R34 GTR engines, Mazda RX's with Series 8 RX7 internals and you can't forget our 5litres and over 8 potters . . . bad for the UK since you guys pay something like $4AUD a litre for fuel !! . .. . man that would suck !

But i'm talking Subbies here !!!

I think Aust, Japan, NZ (those Kiwis do illegal mods, we are more strict here) and the UK are probably the only REX mad countries. Those yanks are getting there, but too much Fast & the Furious fantastic plastic mods !!!

Just like to put one point across, theres no rivalry in England with the Aussies, its more on your side..You just HAVE to beat your former masters..Get over it

And to add insult to injury, the Ireland RFU are in the ascendancy. great to see that the australians now have respect for their forefathers.

I reckon who has the best WRXs depends on what you want to do.

If you want to go fast in a straight line, I think the Aussies have the UK licked.

The UK lot are more interested in making them go around tight little courses, where power is less important than good handling - but then that may not be surprising given how little space we have to enjoy them in over here So I reckon in this department the UK is likely to be better.

There is a group in the UK called "prodrive" who are particularly good at making imprezas go around corners

I was told by my Sydneysider mate that the reason castlemaine called it "XXXX", is because Queenslanders cannot spell "beer", thats an Oz joke not a pommy one

Hey Little Miss WRX, I live in Norwest, the suburb next to Castle Hill ! Yeah, lots of REXs in this area, plenty of Bimmers also - but don't talk to them, they are stuck up !!!

But i'll be moving to Canberra next week, yup ! closer to the politicians, but still home is in the Hills district.

1973 !!!! I was born in 1975 !!!
