My clutch on MY98 started slipping this morning and just called the dealer and they reckon it'll cost me £800 + another £200 if I have the fly wheel done.

Are they taking the p!ss?? Does anyone know a cheaper option.

Please HELP!

I had my clutch changed for (quite a lot) less than that last year. However, I sourced the parts myself and helped out with the heavy lifting at the garage!

Cost me £170 for the clutch and £100 for fitting.

Clutch kit came from www.importcarparts.co.uk and has 3 year unlimited mile guarantee. It is only suitable for running standard torque, or a bit above (on a UK car).

I got it fitted at a Calbourne garage on the Isle of Wight. Probably not too convenient for anyone other than us islanders!!

Dealers are a rip off! The dealer near us charged £1200 including vat for clutch and a new flywheel. And they had loads of customers to!

dont even get me started: there arent enough hours in the day to cover the cr*p i have had with my local dealers. i wouldnt mind so much if they were wearing a mask dick-turpin style, but just robbing me with a smile on thier face takes the p*ss. so anybody got any ideas on a better solution? again, apologies for the bandit style hijack of the thread.

BK.

Just ordered a Borg and Beck clutch for my MY94 from

here

for £85.34 including delivery and VAT. Which i thought was a fantastic price. Comes with a three year warranty as well.

Just got to get it fitted now

yes, however, my car is MY96 and therefore has the smaller bellhousing and smaller (& cheaper) clutch.

I think you will be looking at the £200 version.

Still, it's better than £800!
