Im sick to death about people posting on here about how much money they have lost on their brand new cars, usually bug eye owners buying a MY03. Are these people so thick that they didnt realise that there was bound to be a heavy loss after owning the car for such a short period of time.
I have some sort of sympathy for bug eye owners that bought a car only to find that IM has knocked a few grand off the price, but thats life, happens in every market in the UK.
The days when there were high residuals for an impreza turbo are well gone. It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain thats done any kind of homework before they got the car that they would lose a packet if they sold so soon. Its the same for most brand new cars, you lose several thousand as soon as you drive out of the showroom, nothing changes that rule unless you have a high demand car which is in short supply.
And why are they changing for the new model anyway ( as seems to be the case on many posts), as i understand it its not much different to the MY01-MY02. These are probably the same sort of people who used to crow that the bug eye design has "grown on them", yet as soon as the next big thing is launched that looks a hundred times better there a stampede for the new car.
I bought one of the last P1s available, if i sold today id no doubt lose about 6-8 k on it, am i bothered? No. I knew this would be the case when i got the car and was not likely to sell the car in the near future.
The mind really boggles.

Totally agree - apart from the 100 times better bit
Unfortunately on a public forum of over 20000 people you are going to get these kind of whingers. The best way of dealing with it is ignoring it...it'd soon be on page 4.
Sadly, people can't help but rise to the bait.

Yoza, yes long time no see. Youd have been more than welcome going to the meet in December, youd have met all 30 of us. Re not reading the posts, having read a few of the original ones, it gets boring when more pop up.
I agree as well. The depriciation is great for us second hand buyers - £12500 for a one owner UK MY00 with 35000miles sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Even the so called slow depreciating cars are bad in cash terms, even if they look good on percentages. A Porsche (cast iron residuals) may lose a small percentage but it still adds up to a lot of £0000s
