hi all,

just wondering, which is easier to fit or are they basically the same, in terms of the jw racing and b&m quickshift options?

am having trouble deciding full stop - is there any difference or shall i just choose one on the flip of a coin ?!?!?!?

I really can't give you a comparison as I only know about the B&M - which took the boys at TSL about 20mins to fit for me yesterday!
(and well pleased I am too)

Both are as easy as one another to fit.. however, is the Non-JW one adjustable???

Out of the two the JW seems to have a better reputation, as it's solid and adjustable. Takes about 20 minutes to fit (DIY). The JW quickshift comes with a replacement top-mount when used in a new age car too

 

Never tried a q/s , do they improve the positivity and feed back through gearchanges or simply reduce throw ?

the difference is quite unbelievable and you can shorten the throw so its no more than a 'notch' on th JW Racing QS

 

Had the B&M fitted last friday @ TSL and the results are astounding. Can't comment on the JW one but his products always seem good, however I don't think I'd really want mine any shorter than it is!

 

So whos going to tell me whats a quick shift and what does it do campared to the standard thingy maggig.

Ray-li,it's an aftermarket linkage that reduces the amount of gearstick movement needed to change gear,it fits to the bottom/shaft of the gear stick.

The adjustable option is a replacement gearstick and link which alows you to adjust the pivot point of the stick which shortens the throw between gears.
I tried it but didn't like it as it requires more force to change gear. Just shorten the original gear stick, hacksaw and M12 Die, job done.

 

it sounds good but the only proble i have with that is more force in changimg gears.
my left hand is like a girls arm

 

fitted a b+m myself in 20 mins,its not adjustable like jamies but *** is included
to fit yourself u need internal + external circlip pliers or changeable(yes,i know someones done it with an eyebrow + toenail)
gear throw is much shorter,if a little notchy but never managed to go into fifth instead of third,as b4
its all good do it

 

I've got one of the B&M jobbies supplied andf fitted by TSL. It does make the shift a lot shorter and faster. I don't think it's anymore difficult to change gear than it was before, apart from getting used to the shorter through and thinking is that in gear for the first couple of days.
