Friend send me a link to this website which has a gadget that will (allegedly) monitor the performance of your car with:

Maybe one of the more tech minded people will have a better opinion. But this device merely plugs into your cig lighter and attaches to somewhere in the car.
It is connected to anything else on the car. How does this device measure rpm ? distance ? etc..
just some thoughts ...
