Sti5 Type-RA Ltd vs RX7 Type-R
Just so happens that a fella here at work (goes by the name of megastream) has a stock Type-RA V-Ltd, and im taking delivery of a '93 RX7 Type-R 3rd gen, modded to 300BHP.
Chances are we may meet on a private road when it comes
but wanted to guage opinions on here on which would win in a race? any ideas?
He says it felt quick against the 1.1 Nova he raced yesterday
but I still believe the RX7 will take it

Yeah, initial launch will be tough, but the 0-100's I think are pretty similar, will come down to which car hauls *** once moving, will be a tough one, and Andy, you got yourself a race!! what kind of Golf is it again?

Ive seen various jap vids with nsx's, scoobs, skylines and evos up against the RX7. RX7 always seems to win. Think its a fair bit lighter. Could have been down to driver ability but the thing was flying.
Ive seen a few of those P1Fanatic, Best Motoring vids, it even beat a GT-R34 in a straight line!! pretty impressive, but then again, the Type-RA is the king of the hill of Impreza's, and very different methods of power delivery will be at play, scoob has low down torque, and 4wd, RX 7 has torque higher up the range, and is lightweight, no matter what thou, dont think either of them will be hanging around (unless the RX-7 breaks down or runs out of petrol, both very likely scenarios
)

I've had the pleasure of owning a 290bhp RX7 twin turbo a couple of years ago and of currently owning a WRX STI RA impresa at the moment!! The RA would cream the RX7 of the line and a reckon about a second quicker to 100mph, after that the RX7 would disappear into the horizon. I managed to get over 170mph out of mine on the autobahn once.
I do reccomend that you drive a rotary engined car, a very unique experience!

Wanna,
Because the rotar works like a turbine once they start spinning it just keeps going stronger and smoother up to the 9000rpm rev limit!
It is very different from a conventional engine, unnervingly quiet, no engine braking as such, not alot of low down torque, the higher the rev's the more alien it feels!
They are not that light as most people think, a standard car weights about 1250kg's using a lot of Alumimium!!
The car was one of the most rewarding that I have ever owned.

Are you Dominic from the film "Fast and the furious"? He had an RX7 didn't he?
Ha ha!!
Have a race down a wet, twisty country road.. the Rx7 will be in a field on its roof and it will be the STi5 disapearing into the horizon..
