I read a lot of stories about stolen cars and so but read this : a few month's ago, in the summer, my dog started to bark at night, when he usually slep's at the end of the bed. I checked it out and there was someone on the parking (that's sealed with a gate) behind our app. I cried but the person didn't identify himself, as there is no way for a man to go onto the parking then climb over the wall or chrashed to the gate, I assumed it was a car thief, and there are lot's of expensive cars there, my scoob, a 911, couple of Beemers and a Jag... So I leet go of my dog, inside the house he barks,quitely, nut outside, he makes no noise because I have trained him so...
The guy started to cry and a few seconds later I was with him and called my dog back. After 5 minutes the police arrive and then I saw what the damage was, his arm, leg, head and almost his b*lls were seriously injured. The amazing thing was that I have to come to the police station for interrogation. Now, a few months further I am the one thats stand on the courtyard for 'manslaughter', that trial is now almost 3 months buzzy and I still can't see the end. But one thing I know for shure, the thieve - a north african - is claiming money and a jail sentence for me, but one day , I wil meet him : without my dog.....

 

So was it an African dog? perhaps a lion hound?

 

no, it was a german sheperd. Very good animal, listen immediatly, can even stop with his lunch and do something else if you ask him...

you cant be tried for manslaughter when the guy is breathing and suing you. i.e. he isnt dead!

thats just the point : he tried to steal a car, he fails, and now he's pointing me as the criminal, he even has the guts to gave the guys at 'foreigner affairs' a ring about the wild men that live in Belgium.

And everytime I see him in courtyard he smile's at me but I swore when all this is finished, I will meet him again, withut my dog. And then he will have a seriously problem aka Wally....

 

Where did the dog "attack" this chap? Actually on your property or off?

If on then you can claim that the dog was protecting his own land - not an infallible excuse and let's face it - you're in the wrong regardless because you're legal and probably an honest member of the community. ( cynical, me?)

If he's still alive it could be attempted manslaughter they're going for, depending on how badly damaged this chap was.

 

well done to your and your hound, that's what I say.
You have the moral support of many on this forum.
I think the critical issue is as another poster above mentions - whether the incident took place on private land or not, and whether he was tresspassing and there to perpetrate a crime. I reckon you will get let off. Your dog is entitled to defend you and your property, especially as you issued a verbal warning first.

I have a friend who was out 2 new year's eves ago. A burglar tried to break in. Their Doberman got him by the arm when he put his hand through the glass he broke, and he ended up having to go to hospital for 12 stitches for dogbite, and 18 for glass cuts.
There was an off duty copper at the A&E and he rang his mates who came and arrested matey on suspicion.
Matey put his hands up, and got a caution.
But get this: my mate got an official visit from an inspector, no less, the next day, and an official warning to keep his dog under control. Next time, it'll be put down, they told him.

Of course it"s attempted manslaughter, I'm from Belgium and my Engish is not 100%.
But I think that you will understand what I want to say.
Strangers are allowed to do anything here in Belgium, were are supposed to shut up and watch. Thats the policy of the governement here, strangers don't have money, so you can't take any from them, we are working, have money and properities so we can pay for our 'crimes' (I didn't realise that defending your own house is a crime). My dog has better manners than most of our politicians but finally, it's the judge that decide so you have to wait and see...

 

Over here a dog is allowed one bite and can then be put down if it bites another person.

Wally we have as daft rules as you in old Blighty(Uk). Seems quite ironic that most of our taxes go on funding the 'scum' to come and commit crime against us. I for one would advocate a clause that any person found committing a crime whilst on welfare gets it immediately cut off.

Of course people with jobs commit crime but the growing trend shows drug addicts/welfare scroungers are the majority(not white collar crime.

I hope the magistrate sees sense and lets you off. Then deports the african.

In Belgium it is the habit of stealing or carjacking a scoob to commit some crime with it : mostly bank robbery or something like that, maybe I can take my scooby and 'man-jack' the afro boy and deport him back to his land (I've clocked once 255 km/u so that wil take about 8 hours to drive to Marocco !!!)

Incorect use of the word "ignorant" annoys me. People use it to describe someone ignoring them, thus making them ignorant by incorrect use of the term. Ignorant mean lacking in knowkedge on a subject.

consider the word clean.

is something or some is being clean it is not the same as them cleaning, it may have the same route but it hs a totally different meaning.

cf. ignorant, if someone is being ignorant, why should it therefore mean the same as someone ignoring?

the answer is, it doesnt.

in my mind, ignorant means unaware of, whereas ignoring means choosing to not acknowlege.

Attempted manslaughter? What the hell is that? Manslaughter is unintentional killing. How can you attempt to unintentionally kill someone? This is B.S surely..........

 

Why not put a warning sign on the outside of the building saying that there's a guard dog loose and they enter at their own risk? How do you stand legally if you do that? After all you have given fair warning, and its not your fault he decided to ignore that warning.
