Question

Hello folks,
I viewed a P1 today and although it was a great car one thing is bugging me. What do P1 keys look like? Ive got a MY00 UK spec and my key (well the black plastic bit) is fatter and more squarer than the one this P1 had (which was a subaru key). Could this be the spare? Both my MY00 keys are the same (i.e bigger than this P1 key). I know its just a niggly thing but i just thought i'd see what other P1 owners keys looked like.

thanks
Keith

p.s I would put this in the security forum but thought it was a more general question

Yes, the key to my P1 was different to that of my MY2000.

The key to my P1 has slimmer and more rounded handle, whereas the MY2000 key was squarer. Seems to fit into my pockets better!

I don't have the first clue why they may be different! ( perhaps because the P1 is basically a Japanese spec car converted for UK? ) The spare key is the same also.

Dave.

Another thing I have noticed since going from MY00 to P1 is that when you set the alarm there is only 1 flashing red LED on the dash instead of 2 on the MY00.

All that extra money and you get smaller keys and less flashing lights - whats the world coming to !!!

My P1 keys are of the smaller variety aswell. My mate has an Sti type-R and it also has these crappy looking keys. I've come to the conclusion that as P1's are basically Type-R's with bits added by Prodrive, they still have the locks and keys etc. Type-r's are all greys (ie, originally intended for the Japanese market), which have different keys, as Japanese hands are too small to hold normal size keys. Problem solved.......simple!

Just a quick Q. To get the smilies in my reply do i have to load them from the web site each time(mysmilies.com ) or is there a shortcut to get them onto the 'reply 'screen to use at will , or anything.....?

Pretty sure the my00 keys have an immobiliser transponder or something in them, could well be that the P1's have a different system.
