I'm thinking of breaking my scooby trackday virginity at the Evo trackday introduction day. Anyone else fancy it? £50.

Sorry. Its in the latest Car of the Year edition of Evo, near the back.

Sat 25th Jan @ Snetterton
Fri 14th Feb @ Brands
Sat 1st Mar @ Silverstone

£50. Passengers free.

Quote: The trackday introductory course has been designed to offer the first-time trackday novice the chance to take their car on track under the guidance of highly qualified instructors. Each of the events lasts for half a day. You will be carefully guided through all aspects of track driving, from tyre wear to what to wear. You'll then get out on track chaperoned by an instructor, gradually increasing the pace. When you are ready you will get to do some lapping on your own.

Question

Ed,

Quickly flipped a copy of EVO on Waterloo station today, alas, without my glasses. You sure you haven't got to be a member of one of these Trackday clubs to get the price and the booking? There was something in the small print......

No, I think it is open to everyone. Page 147 in the Feb issue.

I am not sure though how much track time you actually get The whoole thing is only half a day and it sounds like quite a long time is spent in the classroom.

Edcase, have you already booked it? Did you ask how many laps/minutes you get to drive for?

Planning to book this week, will ask when I book, I reckon you get a fair few laps as it describes a steady build up of pace with an intstructor then you go out and lap on your own. For 50 quid I wont complain, I've driven on enough track days to know I'm competent, but they have always been 'specials' like 355 at goodwood / single seaters at silverstone etc. Never my own car, so just want to go and make sure I have the etiquette nailed down, and also find the limits of my new scoob.
