I am just coming up to 60,000 miles and wondered if anybody has any idea how much a 60k service is at a main dealer

 

I "think" thats the next one for me, had the 45k one done before I got the car, next one at 52.5k cost me £150 and the next one (the 60k one), is according to the dealer around £400, its a pretty big one m8!

I'm er not looking forward to March thats when mine is due luckily got MOT at that point too, get all that crap sorted out and then got me another year of low costs to look forward too! 67.5k service isnt that big I dont think

 

Its madness, my car is only on 35k! But I want those stamps in the book!

 

why is the 60k such a big one ?

i thought the 45k was the big 1,,,,, cam belt change etc,,

 

60k service inc diff,gbox engine oils plus spark plugs,air filter,coolant etc etc just had 90,000 service( 45k plus 30k)ouch!!!!!!!!!!

Tell em to leave the filter, making sure they knock it off the service bill.
As for whats done on the 60k, this should cover it. My next one is the 45k in about a month or so

 

so as we can see, the 45k is high because of the cam belt change, but theres little else to do, the 60k service is one of the biggest in terms of the things which get replaced and inspected, going to need me some new discs around that time also! damnit! Thats the £700 I was going to spend on a SS System

 

As sammani pointed out, the daddy is the 90k service. The £400+ 30k service meets head on with the 45k service

Do what yourself? The whole idea of paying crappy prices is to get the stamp

 

the service £50 would cover the parts,and for what u r going 2 lose on the value of the car u will save in labour costs,what year is the car?

 

Its a 1999, but I want to keep the warranty!

nope, 35k, the previous owner was doing it every 12months, which in all honesty is probably the best thing, servicing a car for 60k when its only gonna be on 37k or so is madness!

Join the club, when I had the last Service (& MOT) the grand total (if you excuse the pun) was about £950. The cars' a 98 Terzo which at the time had 29K on the clock. Admittedly that included having a SS exhaust taken off and the original one put back on. But it DID hurt, but like you I wanted to keep the stamps up to date. Should have gone to the Post Office, its a lot cheaper!!

I might leave it for a further 6months and just get it done annually, i'm thinking of keeping the car for the long term so I doubt it worth it, especially since i'm going to be doing mods and stuff down the years.

A friend of mine did that with a Rover Coupe (not modded), just serviced it when it looked like it needed it and saved a packet, its in A1 condition and has no reason for selling it just like I expect to keep my subaru for many many years

 

Can't see any problem with that, but if you are gonna keep it for yourself for a few years, i'd be tempted to change the oil at least once between services.

 

Agreed, 12months on a car like this with same oil could get bad.

 

<flame suit on> Get a bug-eye, it's every 10,000 miles, 12 months....

With perhaps a DIY oil change every six months or so.. <flame suit off>

I would only own a bug eye if it was heavily modified (both in looks and power)

What sort of money do you think the 90k service should cost?
I had mine done a month or so ago, and paid £450 inc. VAT. I thought this was a bit on the pricey side but now realising that perhaps it wasn't.
Wasn't done at a main dealer but they are authorised Subaru specialists.

 

I think you got it cheaper because they werent a main dealer, £450 is pretty good
