STI Imports is very closely related to Interpro Automotive/Interpro Engineering/Whatever they are currently called. This would make me very wary of them.

Bought my car from them.

Dave Morgan was efficient and friendly - a very nice bloke - no bull**** approach.

No real problems, and the ones I had were generally sorted out

Would use them again to buy an import. (but not me personally - see below)

Only thing to be weary of is that the price quoted may not be the price you pay.

If its coming through Holland? - unsure as import laws change March 1st? then I ended up paying for insurance and temp reg. in Holland, and other costs were:

Insurance/temp reg £352 (thought a bit high)
Road tax + reg fee £180
Licence plates £27
half tank of fuel - £25 (I did'nt use any!)

+ remember that the price you pay for duty and vat is dependent on the yen rate when it hits the UK, and you need to pay it immediately to clear customs.

I dont use/speak to them now, which is a shame as I was going to use them to extensively modify the car - now using someone else (no plugs). Reason being that I mentioned in a thread that their servicing was quite expensive (in comparison to others - including the likes of Dave Hendry!), and that upset someone behind the counter at Interpro (young guy), who told me they did not want my business - not my problem if I state the facts.

Ahh well their loss I guess - bigger shame as I would probably have bought a car they had in stock - a Nissan Sunny GTiR - but cant do that and am looking to source elsewhere.

Shame as Sti imports and Dave are OK, but the guy at Interpro pissed me off and hence my bad impression of them

Hi All,

Another to consider is Litchfield Imports based in Cheltenham (http://www.litimports.co.uk).

They can also, according to their website get hold of STI-6s as well. On the site it says 24,995 pounds on the road including a 3 year warranty and CAT1 alarm. I've no idea if that is cheap or not though.

They also currently have a nice looking STi3 (in Black) for sale under their Used section.

Cheers

Ian Watkins (GT4)

I bet the price quoted, which seems cheap to me, is based on 185 yen to the £ - its a lot less than this at the moment - though slowly rising

STi Imports are connected to Interpro - who I would personally have nothing to do with.

Why all the bad feelings towards Interpro ?

I know nothing of them, so should I keep it this way ?

Yes the car is to coming into to Holland. I am new to this import gain, but will categorocally not put my hand in my pocket to cover and hidden cost !!!

STi are quoting £27.5k for an Evo 6 Tommi Makinen

Avoid Interpro.

I know of 3 engine failures they have caused on friend's cars! They butchered the new Graham Goode racing exhaust system I asked them to fit to my previous wrx. They don't let you see what they are doing to your car, which is always a bad thing in my book. They don't keep you informed of extra work they feel they have to do.

I was, on the whole, content with Wotton Motor Center until I found Powerstation in Cheltenham, who now get my servicing work.

Wotton Motor Centre usually did a satisfactory job, but they tended IMHO to charge over the odds and made some significant mistakes. For instance, when they changed the clutch on my previous car they failed to secure the intercooler hoses sufficiently, so my intercooler was literally blown off the engine as I drove the car home! I was not a happy bunny!

I choose to go the extra distance to Powerstation these days because I am confident that they will take care of the car properly.

Moray
(Now generally a happy bunny )

I would recheck with Dave

Are you getting a warranty - Sti said I would get a warranty for 1 year - I never got one depite chasing - I suspect they never forked out the money in the 1st place!!

Have you confirmed with Dave that you will have to pay temp. reg + insurance + check all my other comments about prices. I know that the price quoted in EVO is a load of bollocks.

The price Dave charges is dependent on the price he pays the agent in Japan at the time of the release.

I was charged roughly £1k more than I exepcted. This was partly the result of poorer e/r on entry to UK (impact on duty and VAT)- circa £300
Temp reg + insurance £350 (I expected about £100), license plates, fuel and tax £205.

Being charged anout £400 for passenger airbag - Dave said it would be about £150.

Oh and, of course you have to pay for a trip to Holland! but then I knew this. Problem is that you pay top price to get there as Dave only gets a few days notice as to when the car will be in Holland - a bit of a pain.

Also properly inspect car when you get it - some of the cars had to have resprays, cos the transportation must have been naf

Mine needed a new rear spoiler - swapped from Daves car - it still had a small scratch on it, and the rear bumper was scratched - they managed to remove part of it but not all - got fed up

Finally, I would strongly advise you to lacquer the car on receipt, as the paintwork on the Jap cars is crap, you end up with loads of stone scratches - I lacquered the car after a couple of weeks, and have'nt had a scratch since - but dont bother with STI as they charge for Scotchguard, which is a waste of money - oh and keycare and international car registration.

Thumbs up

Message for Steve McCulloch,
I live in Yate and before I bought my Scooby I called Wotton Motor Centre as they used to be official Subaru Dealers but lost their dealership a few years ago because they started importing STi's and Subaru UK didn't appreciate this. Evidently they resorted to this because of the hassle in getting UK spec cars - the allocations system did not allow them to sell very many Turbos. They do still import and they also service the cars. I am sure that you must be relatively local and this would not be far to go and may give you a decent alternative. Hope this helps.

Wotton upon Edge Subaru people are pretty small scale - they were selling a Macrea I remember with Prodrive suspension a year ago, or so, at a scandalous price.

From what I know they are still Subaru dealers with IM ?

Never said I wanted an import at the moment - thats JamesR question - I would not source a Sunny GTiR from abroad - plenty around already - mostly overpriced though
