Unhappy

It must be just coincidence but I searched for a type-r for 6 months,I viewed roughly one per month and every single one I viewed seemed a little suspect for one reason or another.

I had so much hassle I began lookin at alternatives & finally settled for a 4 door stiv5 in the end (it is highly tuned which compensated for the extra acceleration associated with the type-r's ratios).

has any one else had this sort of experiance or did i just fluke it ?

But, an STI-V Type R will be quicker because it has the same engine etc as a STI-V 4-Door and the close ratio gearbox, a friend of mine has one and its roughly the same pace as my 320bhp STI-V 4 Door.

Question

eh eh ??
I repeat, I purchased a modded 4dr STIV5 to compensate for the type-r's superior acceleration (from its ratios). The gear ratios are quite different as im sure you know between the 2 and 4 door models. Or have I misunderstood what u meant ?

no.

if you look hard eough I am sure you will find somethign dodgy in anything.

you need to consider what the worst case scenario will cost you if the dodginess is valid, and then consider the associated risk.

I know where your coming from m8.

I looked a a few, and all seemed a bit dodgy, log books not having engine numbers, no HPI reports, tax being registered to a car before it was even sposed to be in the uk ....

I finally found one at a good price, a week later I have found a slight issue with a couple of the sensors on the engine, but nothing that can't be fixed

Did you get yours last week?, isn't a Cool Grey STi5 is it?? from Overtons?

I guess the trouble is that people with good ones tend to hang on to them so they don't come into circulation that often!!!

Took me months and months to find mine!!

: No Worries mate.

Adam M :
I know what your sayin, but the worse case scenario is a pretty costly one in the Type-r's case.

mega_stream :
I had similar probs, I even found one that would pass an MOT but the AA inspector wouldn't test drive it due to the huge front end smash it had apparently once had. It looked absolutely perfect to the untrained eye, the AA guy made it very clear that I should just walk away.

I bought a steel grey stiV5 with loads of sorted ( safe ) mods all carried out by either ScoobySport, BR Developments or Power engineering ( which is nice... ) , not from Overtons though.

Gixerman:
You got that so right !!
