Despite attempting to adhere to limits and having a snooper radar detector, I was 'victim' to a sneakily placed Gatso aimed at slip road joiners on the A13 dual carriageway from London city airport roundabout yesterday in my P1. My worst fears of 2nd gear boost have been realised.

3 things do not go together:
Empty dual carriageway & 30mph 'temporary' badly marked zone & P1

Rant rant rant!!!!! Not looking forward to the infamous envelope in 2 weeks and wish I'd bought a robin reliant now as I've only had the damn P1 for 4 weeks. Or is that a record, fellow P1 owners?? (I notice Top marques always has a license lost P1 for sale!). Ah, feel better now....

I would'nt worry too much chopper you will probaly get away with it. there's about a 1in 4 chance of getting caught.

start worrying when you get caught by a nice stripey car on the M11and they tell you it was 102.3 mph

Thumbs down

Thanks for the reassurance. Bad news to hear about your plod encounter. Unfortunately in this modern day, cars can so easily reach such speed on normal roads under normal driving conditions that it really is only a matter of time before you get stopped if you do a lot of driving.

Who was that AC Cobra fellow on the M1 again that we all have to blame....

chopper:
I believe you should blame the F1 teams, who were testing race engines on the M1 when it first opened

They should fit cruise control to the P1s otherwise there's going to be no one left to drive em

Positive news tho, hit a Gatso no detector signal but two flashes. Waited for the postman each morning for a fortnight no NIP so I think u may be OK....just take it easy with your right foot

Wonder if anyone else has had the double flash no detector bleep syndrome? Perhaps this is something common or was Banshi just lucky?

If you don't hear anything in about 2 weeks you are OK. I think there's a legal clause whereby a defendant in a court cannot be expected to remember events of more than two weeks ago and therefore cannot properly defend themselves. This only applies in certain types of offence. i.e. you can't use this clause to get out of major crimes like theft, murder, rape, bank robbery etc...

Is there one on the dual carriageway bit now? I know there are 2 on the single carriageway 30 zone nearer the airport.

I have to say my Bel 990 has never missed a working gatso - the snooper did not fare as well in Evo magazines detector test, so it might be worth changing detectors.

I went through a camera @ 1am doing 105mph on the clock - in my old 16v mk2 golf - got the letter in 2 wks later - caught @ 88mph. Now i knew speedos were out, but not by that far! It was in a 60 limit and i got 3 pts £40 fine.
