The H6 engine will fit but the SVX will not.

Pat is currently trying to get an SVX into his car but it involves lots of hammering and swearing.

PC -- don't know why, but the thought of someone hitting the inner arches & bulkhead of their Scoob with a lump hammer and shouting "fit in you b*st*rd" made me smile

Thumbs up

Especially funny when you picture our beloved Pat doing it.

That lad is as mad as they come - in a good way.

I was going to use an svx just need to know the bits I need to cut and fabricate to get it to fit. We have the technology to put the car on the jig and start hacking away and rewelding.

Colin, you really need to talk to Pat, he's well on the way with this From memory using the standard gearbox position the EG33 engine (from the SVX) wouls sit about 4 inches further forward than the EJ20...necesitating a special radiato core positioned further forad, not unlike the position of an FMIC from APS, Blitz, HKS and so on...

Word of caution, if you are ever in the vacinity of Pat while he is working on his own car if you hear something along the lines of 'B*STARD' or 'C***' or 'MMMWWWWAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH' Duck, and fast it is surprising how far, fast and hard he can hurl an object such as a turbo, hub etc and even more impressive how he can embed them into a wall....Pete will be aware of this ability

Lovely bloke otherwise, evil temper...

everyone knows pat surely? nice guy you could ever meet and probably the most enthusiastic of enthusiasts on any board.

jack of all trades is not a term that comes to mind, master of all perhaps, including bodging.

Encyclopedic knowledge of any subject I can hink of and the ability to learn the rest in the blink of an eye.

In short, if you arent sure ask pat.

I still owe him for fabricating the one off loom on my pectel.

Pat's 'experiments' are the stuff of legend...he's not affraid to brake things (turbos, engines, gearboxes inc dog boxes etc) to work out where the boudaries are...many of us have and still do benefit from his imense generosity and knowledge...without his help (and that of many others as well) I would never have created my little monster quite so cheaply.

Current experiments include adapting Proflex safari spec suspension for road use (so his car no longer looks like a Forester)

Unfortunately his enthusiasm is infectious...and before long your drafting up meniacal plans for space frame chassis'd, Subaru EG33 twin turbo powered Milk Floats for track day work...he's not kidding you know...

Cheers matey

I did comnpose a reply to this thread but since the Scoobynet software kept throwing ASP errors and my time and patience are not limitless, I've mailed Colin directly. If anyone else would like to discuss the possibility of fitting an EG33 to an Impreza, please feel free to mail me direct (pat@22b.com).

Regards,

Pat.
