Well, a bit dramatic, but would you adam and b'flippin leave it!!!

Got the check engine light on, then she wouldn't start. Noticed the exhaust and surrounding bumper are BLACK with gunk - so presume thats not a good sign.

Only had it PPP'd last friday!!!

Dealer is checking all avenues, but seems to think i not only got the first PPP they did but also the first faulty ECU!!!!!!!

NO eibachs for Friday!!

NO NM6!!

Just when it seems like the suns shining......

 

Now I'm scared, I've been giving mine stick. Keep me up to date.

Givvin it some stick indeed, I've bin thrashin the nut's off it since it was installed (apart from when the missus drove it!).

Sorry to hear about this mate, but it does make you appreciate the 'reassuringly expensive price' for the PPP, so as to include the warranty, even so, let's all hope it's a once off.

Make sure you let us all know the cause.

The soot around the exhaust pipe is common on all scoobs, its just that with the twin pipe its not as noticable than it is with the 3inch tailpipe on the prodrive B/Box.
If you have a look on the US site (www.i-club.com) they seem to have quite a few problems with the engine check light but other than that i dont think its the PPP thats caused your problem, it looks more like one of the teething problems that the MY01 has encountered, and probably not the last one
As far as i know, no PPP ecu has failed, and ive never heard of one causing engine damage, its a good pack and you shouldnt jump to conclusions until the fault is found and then rectified.

Sorry to here it, I know I have been critical about MY01 in the past but there are still a scoob and its sad to see one with problems. At least you have your warrany and I hope it isnt too serious.

Yep absolutely right Simon, they havent said the PPP is the problem - only that the ECU is one of the avenues they have narrowed it down to. So no one need cancel any PPP based on my little problem!!!!!!

Shall hopefully get a full breakdown (no pun intended) today!!!

This is why I went for the PPP. Even though the PPP probably was'nt the cause(and this is pure speculation) had Jza gone any other route to chip his car, he would probably have to fork out loads of money to have it fixed. As it stands the cars warranty is intact and will be dealt with as a warranty claim. IMHO one of the biggest benefits to the PPP is the warranty factor.

Do you know what Neil, thats exactly right and i realised that had i recently had a DP and UP fitted from another tuning company i'd be looing at a very large bill at the moment.

My car is (was ) very quick after the PPP and i reckon another 8% performance gain - whilst something to do in 2 years - can wait!!!!

Its definately a lesson to anyone thinking of "mods". Can you afford to replace a PPP ECU if you've modded the car and the chip goes bang?? I cant!!

I thought my MY01 would never go wrong - look how wrong i was (as of 12.30pm today they still claim they dont know whats wrong with it!!)

Sorry to hear you're out of action m8. I had my PPP fitted Saturday, so will be very interested to hear the cause of the problem and the outcome. Hope it's nothing major.

Certainly a lesson to be learned here on warranty. I specifically went for a UK car for the warranty, so the PPP was the only route for me. I certainly won't get tempted to change anything else now.
