Question

My daughters e-mail account is being spammed relentlessly - she gave her e-mail to some sites when surfing - in all innocence

The content is not suitable in most cases, but the main worry is she went online tonight and had 1967 e-mails YES, you heard correctly!! 1967!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which took ages to download.

Anyway, my question, we have decided to dump her account and create another - trouble is - I have forgotten how I did her first one!! such is age! how do I delete her old one and create another?

Please make it simple

Pete

Deleting and recreating the account won't help Pete. The spam will just keep getting sent, so the only option is to change her mail address.

Let me check the BTi options...

Go to http://www.btopenworld.com

Click on My Account - you may need to sign in with your BT username and password.

In the Guidance section, there's a link for...

How do I set up new e-mail addresses?

It links to http://213.120.226.92/sh/help/outlook_express.htm, you might be able to get there skipping the above steps.

Question

I have followed the instructions and it 'apparently' set up a new account, fine - but when we look for e-mails it asks for her name and password, ok, but it refuses to accept them and asks again and again?? I have checked the name and password 6 times and it matches! any ideas??

For info. btinternet.com is now btopenworld.com my e-mail is the former, hers is the latter - would that alter anything? I have set her default up as btopenworld

I wonder if it takes a while for the mailbox to become operational?

Nope, just set a spare mailbox up myself (which get's a BTOpenWorld addy) and it worked straight away. "Use Secure Password Auth." isn't checked is it?

just a quickie.. check you added the correct Pop3 server to the account in outlook. (mail.btopenworld.com and not mail.btinternet.com)

If you have it correct ignore me.. just an easy mistake to make.
