Question

1st of all, Hi Guys & Gals, this is my 1st post as I have just bought my 1st Sub.
Its a MY95 hatch, 80K miles, (UK), totally standard and unabused.
I'm very happy with it, except for the seats and the god awfull wheels (standard). These will be getting changed in due course. Before that I'm planning tweaking the engine and I need your help.

I have bought a K&N induction kit and will be purchasing shortly a scorpion stainless system replacing the back cat.

What is required to raise the boost. I believe the max boost with a standard ECU is 1.2 bar? with the boost controlled at 1.0 bar?
What is the easiest way to obtain more power / boost at a reasonable cost, without melting the engine?

Thanks for any info in advance.

Gaz.

Thanx Paul, I was going to leave the original downpipe in place to help get through the MOT. Will it still pass the emissions test without the 1st cat?

Gaz , you will enjoy every upgrade over time . I started with exhaust , gives the burble Subaru sound and good increase to start with . You don't mention your budget but imagine it must be limited like most of us . Don't worry about trying to chase max straight away , that way you'll have fond memories of each as you did it .
For me > Octane , Pipe , chip .

Regards
Ray

To release the ponies you will need to replace the down-pipe

Dont go turning up the boost 'till you have got some advice....expensive re-builds and all that

Welcome aboard, and as Ray says, enjoy your mods...one at a time

you can get mid sections with a sports cat (PE) that will pass the mot and don't impare the power, otherwise yes.

If you want to decat the exhaust, just keep the OEM mid-section and stick it back on at MOT time. Make sure the exhaust is hot when they measure. But with 80k miles, maybe the cat isn't at its best?

Cheers,

Richard.

Cool

Cheers again guys,
I'm due home on Thursday, (work away for 2 weeks). the Wife tells me the scorpion and K&N have arrived, so i'll be straight into it. I've ordered a dawes and after reading the various threads on here i'm gonna order an aquamist water injection kit soon. Any more info on WI would be appreciated.

I'm going to have to do something with those seats though.

Gaz.
