Why does Subaru insist on sticking on to those top mounted intercoolers. Or interwarmers as somebody called them.
The front mounted ones must be much more effective. The Impreza WRC uses front mounted. Why not the road cars?

Spose cos they are efficient enough for a road car (?)
To keep cost down (?)
Subaru might be in cahoots with the aftermarket fmic market (?)

yes.
There was some messing about with chargecoolers on some Autosportif prepared cars, but its not as good as a FMIC. I dont recall ever seeing a works Impreza with a chargecooler.

So the reason is cost?
All EVO'S use front mounted I/C, right?

They also cost more.Could also be to reduce lag-the very short piperun will make for quicker acceleration on standard boost.
